I like the cover. It looks out of place, especially beside the lines of identikit CDs it'll be placed alongside. I hate the meaning that Lady Gaga has given it but I do like the fact that the big music retailers are gonna have to cheapen their shop facades with huge posters of it, making them look like one of those squat shops that sells bongs and novelty mobile phone covers.
The cover has no artistic merit that I can see but as an exercise in undercutting the industry's expectations of how an A-list celebrity should present themselves, I think it works perfectly. And the fact it's one of the few pop album covers in a long time that people are actually talking about has to be a good thing.
