Funnily enough, I
very frequently say 'lol' (as in 'loll', not 'el oh el') IRL. As in 'this is a shit joke, lol'. For a while it's irritating, then people get used to it, then it ruins their ability to be online. Which is very lol (because if it was lulzy it'd be OL, see?)
