Actually I didn't know this fact about him, but that's pretty fucking funny if true. All said, that's why it comes down to just listening to the silly bastard croon into a microphone while overlooking any political, spiritual or religious views he (or any other performer) would be trying to convey. Everyone would be a lot less cynical then.
