I'm Not Dead

Hey SY gang. Sorry I flaked out 7 months ago. How is everyone? I've been ridiculously busy lately--applying to PhD programs, writing my thesis, and trying to teach music theory to unwilling percussionists and whatnot. My being busy is no excuse for not being around; I know, I suck. Here is a picture that I like:

Hey again.

Hello. Good to see ya back, hope to see you posting more!

Hip Priest 01.08.2007 11:55 AM

Hurrah. How lovely to see you back, noumy.

I tried sending you a Christamas email through the board, but it was blocked or something.

Glice 01.08.2007 03:32 PM

Oh, Mr Noumenal, good to have you back. More posts! The return of musical literacy. Huzzah!

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 01.08.2007 05:41 PM

Hey man! Nice to have you back buddy, you were missed! How are things going?

noumenal 01.09.2007 02:47 AM

Things are going well.

Looks like you guys have been posting up a storm around here--my 1000 posts look pathetic.

School starts back in a week, but I'm not taking any classes, just research hours. Anyway, I've been TAing, which I enjoy, to a point. I announced on the radio this past summer and enjoyed that too, even though I don't think I have the charisma for radio. I have some good stories about playing SY, The Fall, and other stuff and getting weird phone calls. Like, for example, I played the song Hip Priest and some guy called in to tell me that it was too long and boring.

I'm going to be doing a lot of traveling soon for interviews.

Sonic Youth has not been at the top of my playlist lately, I mean, I have all of their records and have played them all so much that i know every note and I'm afraid I've harmed my hearing. Still my faveorite band though. I crave new things, or at least things new to me. Still devouring classical recordings of course and I've read a lot of good books lately which I'll bullshit about if given the chance. Also seen some good movies.

I started a blog, but I deleted it because it felt too self-absorbed, masturbatory. Who do I think I am, Anne Frank? Nobody gives a shit about what I had for dinner or that i think C.S. Lewis probably had halitosis.

Nice to talk to all of you again. I don't think I'll be around as much as i used to be, but I'll pop in every once in a while.

val-holla-ing knows I'm not dead because he's seen me many times since I last posted on here. But he's also the only one who knows that I'm a complete poseur--I'm actually a tragically obese woman who works as a janitor at KLSU and makes extra money by sitting on street corners downtown playing the harmonica and tapping bongos with my feet. I have very dextrous feet despite the swelling. Thanks for keeping my secret. I hope nobody minds if I continue to pretend online. Thanks.
