Rant about Capital Punishment.

i have to say I find the death sentence completey retarded. All the time I here these christian soccer moms talking about murderers and how they deserve to die.
1) Being that religious wouldn't murder be completely wronge making it stupid to do in vengance?
2) Killing someone for murder is just letting them off easy. Id rather spend tax paying money to keep a murderer alive in prison than have him killed. If this person just gets killed then they aren't really being punished, unless you believe in hell. Let the fucker rot in jail I say.

I'd write more but I just woke up from a nap...:o

what if they have the wrong person, pretty simple equation, wrong person, capital punishment, bad

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 04.13.2006 05:34 PM

did you hear about a jugde in new hamshire? He gave a rapist 60 days in prison because he felt avenging bad deads with more 'negative situations' would be bad as well.

samuel 04.13.2006 05:37 PM

I think some cases call for the capital punishment. You all know what horrible things people can do, so I don't feel like listing what I feel deserves the capital punishment.

Glice 04.13.2006 05:38 PM

Hmm. It's difficult to say anything on this without commenting, from a biased perspective, on the American legal/ political situation in general.

So I won't.

Пятхъдесят Шест 04.13.2006 05:38 PM

The logic that gets me....abortion = bad, capital punishment = good.

I don't know, this country is odd.

samuel 04.13.2006 05:41 PM

Everybody I know thinks abortion is good and bad depending on the circumstance, same with the death penalty. I don't see this logic you speak of. I don't think anybody feels 100% either way, maybe I'm wrong.

sellouteater 04.13.2006 05:43 PM

abortion good sometimes

death sentence bad always

terminal pharmacy 04.13.2006 05:44 PM

i feel 100% that the death penalty is wrong, because their have been reported cases of the wrong person being executed and an innocent person at that

samuel 04.13.2006 05:46 PM

Yeah that's horrible, but I think in many cases, the death penalty is the logical punishment.

Пятхъдесят Шест 04.13.2006 05:51 PM

What I was getting at was people who are against abortion, are also the ones who in support of the death penalty.

Maybe its my location, but this is rampant here. Christian zealots and such...

Glice 04.13.2006 05:53 PM

Without putting any personal slant on things, does anyone know which countries still have the death penalty?

golden child 04.13.2006 05:55 PM

abortion = bad
capital punishment = bad

samuel 04.13.2006 05:57 PM

Oh I understand now. I didn't mean my other post to sound the way it came out. Yeah, it's strange how people's opinions can be so odd. I'm sure they're not %100 one way or another though. I don't see how anyone could be. But strongly favoring the death penalty and opposing abortion is kind of weird.

You have just gone and found exactly the information I was about to post. We are looking at two of the same pages. http://web.amnesty.org/pages/deathpenalty-countries-eng

Glice 04.13.2006 06:05 PM

Interesting the list of countries still practising includes lot of economically poor countries, most of the communist countries I can think of, and, most interestingly, America's political foes.

truncated 04.13.2006 06:06 PM

Well naturally. I am stalking you, remember?

samuel 04.13.2006 06:07 PM

I don't think that the death penalty is ever used for ordinary crimes. And if it is, then I'm against that. However, just think of the worst possible thing a human could do to another, and I guarantee it's been done many times. Some people who do unspeakable things deserve to just die, not sit it prison (which isn't too shabby nowadays). Last post for me. I'm looking forward to reading other opinions. Oh also, what would you consider ordinary crimes?

truncated 04.13.2006 06:07 PM

The death penalty in America is a response to poor financial management.
