I noticed that most of the diehard boardies spend more time on the grid than in front of a tv.

i dont have a tv.

I always find it funny how so many people try to sound so righteous when talking about TV, they so it is full of shit and it destroys your mind, and yet these same people spend eights hours or more on the internet. I hate to tell these people, but spending eight hours in front of a monitor looking up pointless shit is just as bad as sitting in front of a TV watching pointless shit.

I haven't touched my TV in 5 days.

I mostly sit on the computer because it's the easiest medium for listening to music. As far as sites go, if I'm not on here I'm on wikipedia or Amazon reading book reviews and going through peoples list. I also check out band's sites a good bit. Or just do some radom surfing.

I'm not sure this qualifies as the internet, but on extremely rare occasions, when I have time, I do this virtual reality thing, Second Life. It gets boring rather quickly, because it's not a game per se, but you can build virtual objects, design clothes, write code, shop, get an "in-world" job, buy property, etc. Everyone creates their own avatar to their individual preferences, and people on there can be amazingly creative.

Some people that play that game are really deeply involved, and spend thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of actual dollars on virtual property. There are 'events' held every hour of every day, and the exceptionally skilled techie geeks make real money off of creating virtual objects/houses/scripts and selling them to players.

If nothing else, the graphics are amazing, and they have a virtual Amsterdam, where you can buy all manner of questionable items. It's really the strangest game I have ever seen.

The internet in general is not a very stimulating place 'to learn' things.There is stuff that i enjoy for sure(hello www.ubu.com , hello www.resonancefm.com etc etc)but i don't find it is a medium that i'd take more seriously than others.It is useful indeed but it hasn't really got all the importance that it's put on it.
