psf records appreciation thread

Such an awesome label, everything released on it is always above average to brilliant.

Discography here. Yeah, there's a lot of greatness in there. Some of it not involving Haino as well. I have to say, I've found myself increasingly bored with the High Rise/ Mainliner/ AMT side of things though.

Derek 08.28.2010 04:27 PM

Yeah I've never been into the stoner sounding side of the label... but the more melancholic psychedelic stuff (some Haino stuff, Shizuka etc.) really hits the spot for me. Ditto the folk and jazz the label has put out.

Bought this Haino album today hence the thread, awesome I tells ya. Only £6 as it was second hand and a bit roughed up (things like that don't really bother me though).

Top 5 PSF albums:
1. Shizuka - Live/Traditional Aesthetics
2. Kousokuya - 1st
3. Fushitsusha - Live I
4. White Heaven - Out
5. High Rise - II

There's still 12 PSF releases I own and haven't listened to yet (including 4 Haino related ones). I have the next few days off though, so I'm expecting my mind to be blown over the coming days.

Well, Kazuki Tomokawa is simply one of my favorite musicians ever, and Fault of Flowers (and many others -- but that one's my fav) is on this label, so..

Where did you get the money to buy so many PSF records? I have a few but damn, they're expensive!

Good list by the way.

Well, I've got a job and I don't spend that much money on stuff besides music. And almost all PSF CDs are $18 US, which converts to a bit over $20 here, and that's actually about the same amount you pay for new release CDs here. The only ones I consider expensive are the Fushitsusha double ones.

Derek 08.30.2010 08:55 AM

Ah, their stuff is the same price as new releases over here... I think it's just the shipping that really tears me a new asshole.

batreleaser 08.30.2010 02:25 PM

Mainliner I always go back to.

Cooking With Satan 08.31.2010 01:50 AM

I much prefer Fushitsusha's second double live album.

VT is quite reasonable for postage costs.

Derek 08.31.2010 05:04 AM

Yeah their store is situated in Glasgow, it's where I got my Haino stuff :)

stu666 08.31.2010 12:04 PM

i would love to visit the shop one day but know i wouldn't leave until i spent every penny i had.

Derek 08.31.2010 02:16 PM

Yeah I go there with £50 saying "okay I'm only gonna buy this Richard Youngs LP and outta there" and before you know it I have several LPs and tons of CD-Rs. I can't afford this lavish spending :( .

Give me the Steve Vaus + Infowars CD combo for about $5 less and you have a deal buddy.

Damn, If you had started this thread last month I would've told you about their 25th anniversary sale that finished about 2 weeks ago. When you bought 3 you could pick 1 extra for free, buy 6 pick 2 for free, etc.

Ah well, I guess I can still tell you about it now...

Derek 09.02.2010 06:00 AM

Yeah I knew about it but I didn't really have any money at that time.
