Holy shit Sesame Street!! ( not what you think )

Here is some of the fucking CRAZY shit I used to watch on Sesame Street as a kid. Trust me this is worth a look, especially if you're seeing it for the first time in 20 years like I did, does a number on your brain. Hrmm, anyways, I think some of these things had a great influence on the person I am now. I watched them at a VERY young age, like probably 3 or 4.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=j2jo_Tlw18g ( this one's quiet, turn your volume up to hear it, it's nothing without the music ) yes that was really on sesame street.

So freaking insane for a kids show right? I guess creators had more creative control over their shows back then.

here are two more

I really like that funky pinball song. Thanks EyeballGrowth. That was fun.

Lurker 07.09.2006 05:25 AM

Thanks to Sesame street I still sometimes call zed (British pronounciation) zee (American pronounciation)

RdTv 07.09.2006 07:37 AM

I like the pinball skit...it was hardcore.

I fucking love the clown thing

alyasa 07.09.2006 08:16 AM

Has Sonic Youth ever done anything with the Muppets?

LifeDistortion 07.09.2006 12:19 PM

Seasme Street should take "100%" and turn it into a math song, I remember seeing the Seasme Street "Letter B" vingette? Skit? Many moons ago, and I rember R.E.M. singing "Shiny, Happy, Monsters" quite a while back.

alyasa 07.09.2006 12:23 PM

A Muppets alternative rock special would be nice...

EyeballGrowth 07.09.2006 01:46 PM

Eh, maybe it's just me, but I thought that stuff was extremely unusual and avant garde for a kid's television show, which is what made it so awesome.

Even the pinball one to me has " weird " written all over it, especially with the music. To me lots of the animated and live action stuff from the 70's was just " weird "

anyways you're welcome. Interesting stuff huh

EyeballGrowth 07.09.2006 01:49 PM

Here's another 70's clip. It's not unusual at all though, it's more cutesy kids stuff

I do get what you mean... It's obviously much smarter than any of the kid's shows around now, and it has this charming vibe to it. I think the last clip you showed was quite avant-garde too...

EyeballGrowth 07.10.2006 07:52 PM

I like it for the footage, very interesting footage

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 07.10.2006 07:57 PM

I was watching it today and it was friggen hilarious. It was elmos world and he was learning about balls.

"Lately Dorothy has been thinking about balls."
"Lets look on the tv to learn about balls."
"How do you play with balls baby?"
