California Supreme Court upholds gay marriage ban

Sad, but I'd assume this is gonna go to the US Supreme court.

The gay marriage ban in California is clearly unconstitutional.

I heard the most accurate analysis on the news today, after hearing something about the will of the people (to enforce discrimination) he said, "well if the people put it to a vote, I bet a lot would also vote to bring back slavery."

that was a potent statement there, you can't vote for or against discrimination, you have to simply stop it in the first place. It is not an issue of democracy, it is one of liberty. This is especially true considering voting is more a myth than Aesop's Fables.. in American history, the will of the people has often been wrong and requiring correction.. majority rules is not necessarily the right thing when the majority is going in the wrong direction.

I am upset that people still think that gay marriage will affect their lives in any ways. There are so many couples that have been living together for so long, yet it hasn't affected their lives in any way.

California is populated by the homophobic and the tractable. Repealing Prop 8 would be only momentary.

They do, but typically have a hands off policy until they need to get involved, which is why it has to appeal through all sorts of lower courts. Since marriage is now a state by state issue (thanks to the revision in the Full Faith and Credit clause in DOMA), the supreme court, if they take up the case, might leave it as is saying that the state's court's decision is legit in that it is the state's decision. But if they find that their decision to allow the vote stand as unconstitutional, which really it is, we don't and shouldn't vote on minority rights, then maybe there is a chance.

All I gotta say is it's a slippery slope.

If we let two people of the same sex marry, next it'll be cats marrying dogs. AND THAT IS JUST SICK.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
