not enough said about her i feel and she is amazing. i want her to dedicate a song to me so i will hold it in my heart always.

I missed her the last time she performed in London which was a bummer.

val-holla-ing 06.15.2006 02:00 PM

i like "lullaby". i haven't heard enough of her work to say whether i genuinely enjoy it or not, though.

golden child 06.15.2006 02:18 PM

never really got the hype.

shes lame...

Пятхъдесят Шест 06.15.2006 08:39 PM

There used to be a kick ass video clip with Jessica Rylan, Emil Beaulieau, and Vampire Belt (when will see an LP from Vampire Belt?!) on ecstaticpeace.com. Not sure if its still there.

I enjoy her work much.

Toilet & Bowels 06.15.2006 08:57 PM

apparently she's been playing in pig destroyer or something

Пятхъдесят Шест 06.15.2006 09:03 PM

You're making that up, no?

noah 06.16.2006 06:25 AM

she's great live. she gets this real insane look in her eyes. i like it. and if you ever talk to her shes super nice and stuff.

val-holla-ing 06.16.2006 07:05 AM

i think it would be super fun to work with her, but she'd never come to louisiana (even though we have a pretty good experimental music scene in my town). drats.

no, i read it on another message board, i think it's true

DJ Rick 06.16.2006 02:28 PM

If you read it on a message board, it must be true!

Can't was pretty great when she played here with Emil Beaulieau and Brian Miller & Kevin Shields at a house show in Davis. Her little cracklebox thingy was acting up a little, but we were patient and waited quietly, and she was extra nice to us as a result.

A couple weeks ago, she was in San Francisco at a show as part of the Mission Creek festival. There were about 200 people there during the performance of Nate Denver's Neck, but most of them left during the punishingly long (an hour?) performance by the noise artist Skullcaster. He was reportedly not very good. So about 30 people remained in this large room for Can't, and she reportedly played three songs and then ended with a long rant on why she hated the Cro-Mags....some people were pissed, but others thought it was awesome in its own way.

I say reportedly because I left after Nate Denver, too...I was on my way to the Icky Girlfriends/Gang Wizard late show.

i have seen a few times being from boston where she is based. she's rather unique. i think the best description of her music would be the bjork of noise music. very angelic, but noisy. saw her do a great solo set with thurston moore and john weise a year or more back...

Everyneurotic 06.16.2006 02:56 PM

her music is ok, not earth shattering. that's what i get from her records.

i guess you have to see her live.

DJ Rick 06.16.2006 03:32 PM

Yeah, this is very lo-fi and extremely lo-tech, so seeing it live does a lot more for me than hearing her on CDR or vinyl, where it often sounds like a lady singing through the blades of a fan, plus a bit of distortion.

saw her live at subcurrent... unimpressed... she does some quite cool stuff but nothing too sublime

Can't has recently released a split cd-r with Nipple Creek on U-Sound.

Nipple Creek is a band containing Gene Moore and his brother Thurston, among others.
