Slide Guitar in Music
 

I love the way this sounds, especially when its mixed in with rock music, i want to know some more bands or musicians that use this.

only ones i can think of off the top of my head are the gun club, white stripes, mazzy star,cream and muddy waters.

Zeppelin has some great slide.

one of the best things to ever happen to the guitar.

other musicians that use them: sonic youth, the beatles, beck, pink floyd, weezer

Try the 60s group The Misunderstood - GREAT middle-easterney steel guitar.
Also, there is some beautifully atmospheric steel guitar action on "Chill Out" by the KLF. Make fun if you like, but I still really enjoy that album.

what sonic youth songs, have slide? im sure ive heard them before but i just never really noticed it.

they use a slide in 'sunday' and 'razorblade' and i know for sure. that's all that comes to mind. i'm sure there's more
and they always freakout with them, but that doesn't really count

Kim does slide stuff on Pattern Recognition too.

the last mixtape I made was based around slide guitar. Most of it is blues, I recommend the Captain Beefheart track

Gotta love the Rolling Stones cover of Fred McDowells "You Gotta Move", Mick Taylor's slide work is sick.

Led Zep, In My Time of Dying, has some nice sliding.

"Sweet Young Thing Ain't Sweet No More" by Mudhoney has some cool slide.

A lot of songs by The Cows have slide bass..

Lydia Lunch uses the slide all the time along with practically all of the no wave bands of the early 80s...

Throbbing Gristle!
Cosey Fanni Tutti used a slide on her guitar most of the time, to great effect.

Leo Kottke's got some good slide jams.

i love how Jack White plays slide guitar, i dont really know anyone else, well i know i just dont really know what they sound like

i have a lap steel guitar which is iemnse fun to play and easy to get around. i heartily reccomends everyone get one.
