What's This Called? 9/6/08 - 3 Years @ KPSU

What's This Called? with your host Ricardo Wang celebrates 3 years at KPSU this week!

Beginning life in 1993 at KAOS in Olympia WA, What's This Called? came over to KPSU after a two year hiatus on August 27th, 2005. Since I was on vacation last week, we'll be celebrating the third PDX anniversary this week in a completely refurbished air studio (it just happens that the station wisely chose this week to revamp virtually everything with much needed new equipment from the board to the headphones!) In other bizarre anniversary coincidences, this also happens to be the actual date of my 5th wedding anniversary to the day!

Tune in Saturday, September 6th from Noon to 1 PM Pacific Time (that's 10-11 PM in Jerusalem!) for, simply put, the most eclectic daytime music program in the entire NW. Experimental, post-punk, drone, noise, and beauty!

STREAMING AUDIO HERE!

Or if you're in PDX- and you're one of those old-fashioned types who likes to listen to the radio on the radio:

1450 AM in the Portland OR/Vancouver WA metro area
98.1 FM on the Portland State University campus

On Tap: a mix of the brand new and program favorites including Sun Ra, Legendary Pink Dots, Dellilah (from Israel!), Sun City Girls, Sonic Youth, brand new L.A. Lungs, Christian Marclay, Autechre, Soup Purse, Year of the Lips, Jandek, Ariel Kalma, Shalloboi, and Childhood Friends!

Thanks! Yeah, 3 years at this station. 13 or 15 years total depending how you figure the 2 year hiatus. I say I was doing research...

I've got great live bands on the next two weeks: Mangled Bohemians from Portland next week, and then Shalloboi the following week!
