HP Pavilion Notebooks??

Hey, does anyone here have one of these or any experience using them? Are they shit etc.?

I'm looking to FINALLY get a new notebook with some nice processor action and 4 gigs of RAM. This one looks pretty tight and after rebates is 800 bucks at Staples.

I figured some of you guys might be up on notebooks and whatnot, so any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

it's not bad (unless you plan to use it for ANY games).

onboard GFX cards are shit. everything else looks "ok" though. :)

the previous version had no H-TL (which was what made it suck so bad). that does....sure it will be fine.

Awesome, yeah I'm not really planning on doing any serious gaming on it or anything....I just want to be able to a bunch of shit at once without much problem. Internet, music, downloading torrents, Soulseek, and running recording software/Fruity Loops all at once would be immaculate.

I have a SHITTY Compaq Presario from 2000....just god awful. You can't even use the internet and listen to a cd at the same time anymore. I've been using my sister's labtop lately.

But yeah man, thanks for the input \nn/

^^^ with 4g of ram that shouldn't be a problem....but then again it has Vista (which I refuse to use), so there's a chance that I'm just talking out my ass.

Yeah, I've used Vista and I'm not a huge fan of it either....XP would be fine with me.

I have one, but mine is the tablet, and that's specifically why I got it. I'm not sure how they compare otherwise, but it's great. The graphics card is pretty bad, but it can play Half Life 2 at full strength.

Cool shit.

i have had a 4900 for the last 3 years on xp, it's been quite good to me, but i had to wipe the hard disk once cause it was overloaded with nonsense programs that slowed it down, but then again notebooks aren't really the best platforms for gaming or heavy multimedia (least on my computer)

i hope to get atleast one more year out of it, and wait to get a new one with Windows 7 and touchscreen and bypass vista altogether

that's a lot of ram, i doubt you'll ever make use of it but ok...
if you really want 4gb of ram you'll have to get either xp 64 bit (not the common 32 bit version) or vista, and i doubt they sell xp 64 bit on retail.

you should try it at real store, check the battery life, the weight , the keyboard, the monitor (if it's glossy or mate, some people really hate glossy monitors)...

It comes with the XP 64 Bit version of Vista and the battery life is 2.5 hours.

I'm def. going to go into the store and check it out before buying it.
