Spiritualized - Songs in A & E
Ive been waiting for it for years and years, im getting it in the next couple of days and all the reviews seem to be good. So whats we all thinks?
i think it's very awesome.
by the way, i never complimented you on the hedonism bot youtube link you posted; consider yourself complimented. |
I've been trying to get ahold of a copy, but I'm broke. I guess I'll download it soon.
*how delightful*
A suitable sentiment for Spiritualized i think |
It hasn't faired to well with me on repeated listens, sadly.
i'm more scared of this than i was of the rem album. I dont think i could take another shit Spiritualized record
what are the chances of a band who turned shit turning good again?
It's good, but not great.
yeah, its a good spiritualized album. better than amazing grace and the other one i cant remember the name of but its no electric mainline or ladies and gentlemen... im not even gonna mention laser guided melodies .....
worth checking out tho. |
It took me a long time to actually get into ladies and gentleman (almost two years or so), but finally I grew to like it a lot.
Spiritualized are supporting none other than Lenny Kravitz this weekend here. it's a huge arena rock show of course, and tickets are only about seven million euros. If spiritualized did a separate show at a smaller venue (without lenny kravitz) I'd be interested to see them. Other than music, the most interesting aspect of spiritualized is the emphasis they put on package design. http://www.creativereview.co.uk/crbl...or-each-other/ |
im not afraid to say this: best album by mr pierce ever.
everything weve seen on previous records; garage, psychedelia, gospel, blues, and more. the flow of the album is perfect, other spiritualized records however good i have found drag on too long, not this one. |
agreed, this album is killer, not sure where all the hate is coming from
i dont have it yet.
I listened to it for the first time yesterday and I really liked it. Some of the songs sound way better than their recent output.
definatly. Listened to half of it last night and was impressed.
I saw them on Jools Holland and it was sort of gnarly, halfway thru the song sort of collapsed into shapeshifting improv territory...
this record gets better with every listen. im telling you, yhr flow is fucking perfect. 2-6 minute songs that just roll into one another, some beautiful arragements on this record too. pretty much a grand combination of everything good pierce has ever recorded.
Until recently I've only been familiar with Ladies and Gentleman. I just got some of their other stuff and I have to say their other stuff is pretty disappointing. That version of Lord Can You Hear Me When I Call? on Let it Come Down is fucking awful.
I haven't listened to too much of Songs in A&E yet. |
i've not heard the origonal Lord Can You Hear Me so i'm gonna dig that out. Quite liked Spiritualized's version.
jason pierce is the most boring lyricist of all time, he has a vocabulary of about 30 or 40 words that he just rearranges into as many combinations as he can think of, and then starts again at the begining
