"friend"? |
I know a convulsive liar.
"No, honestly, I've just been working out a lot" |
According to my grandmother, my deceased bio-dad was a compulsive liar, but he was apparently also so charming that she didn't care. She liked him a lot, but never believed a thing he said.

I'm glad, such a shame to see 'that sort of humour' get lost. |

kick him in the teeth every time he starts. it's the pavlovian way. |

i actually laughed but right then i had to leave. if it's any consolation. |
I didn't think it was funny at all, you pricks.

Yeah, but you're dead inside.

I've known a few in my time. The only thing you can do, is disown them or make sure you don't depend on them for anything.Always back yourself up with suspicion and investigative measure. However, the latter is just exhausting and somewhat akin to self-harm. It's a form of self-hatred, but I'm a believer that you can't teach people anything and that they only have the ability to learn. Is he/she a 'close' friend, or just in your circle of friends? I went with the disown method and I hear, he's coming on leaps and bounds. His current partner, seems as though she takes no shit though.lol (that's right 'lol' ) |
I think liars are funny, why piss on their little world, if it makes them happy I don't see what the problem is...plenty of people appear a certain way of internet forums and they're probably nothing like that in reality.
|
i suppose if i was you i just wouldn't bother calling him, and if he asked me to hang out i'd say i was busy or something.

"hello... yes? oh hey.. go where? oh no, i'm sorry, i've gotta catch an orbital flight in a little bit, i ran into my uncle richard yesterday and he told me one of his passengers got sick so he asked if i wanted to go... yes... what uncle richard? branson, richard branson... yeah i know him for ages, friend of my dad, i call him uncle... what? no, sorry, there's no more room... o wait the chauffeur is here, i gotta go... i'll call you later" |

Compulsive liars are different though, it's a mental health issue. Sure you take people online with a pinch of salt. But it's an annonymous form of communication, so even if what they're saying isn't necessarily true to their character, what they're doing and trying to achieve is an insight. It shows what they would be like in a world with no consequences, at the very least. |
i have a gullble friend who i always make up ridiculous outrageous lies too just to see him nod and say, "wow thats crazy", and then i laugh and tell him what an idiot he is for believing my bullshit.
other than that, we all lie, dont we? compulsive liars usually make things up to make themselves feel better, almost believing their own lies. its really strange. |

Since he's a liar, how do you know he's telling the truth about the personal trauma story? Ask him something simple, and whatever he answers, say, "You're lying." See how he reacts. See if the next response sounds more like a lie than the first. If it does, all is hopeless. Get this guy to an intervention or dump him. |
its not a close friend really and its more amusing than anything else. i mean we all know that he does it but its just strange considering the way they used to be.

i think you should do a poo
