Question to all the ladies on the board...
Do you consider Kim Gordon to be the single most important woman in rock history, I myself cannot think of any female apart from PJ Harvey, Anita Lane, Ani Difranco or Kim Deal to be possibly worth of a title such as this??????????
edit: i forgot Lydia Lunch |
Patti Smith??
|
Uh...Janis Joplin?
|
Grace Slick, Karen Carpenter, Patti Smith, Belinda Butcher, Liz Fraser, Bjork, Joni Mitchell?
|
i adore kim, but i give that distinction to joni mitchell.
|
Deborah Harry!
|
She's great, but most important? In all fairness, I don't think so...
|
certainly not the most influential or most important, but definitely the coolest woman to walk the earth.
no lita ford fans here???? how surprising! |
Well, consider Kim's influnces from the women who came before her.
Patti Smith certainly Exene probobly And I'm sure Janis Joplin and Joni Mitchell as well. |

i would beg to differ. old r&b was basically the same as old rock 'n' roll. the only things that really separated the two were subject matter and color lines. |

that would possibly be true if she ever made it through an entire performance...or started one, for that matter. |
everyone i've talked to says that she walked out in the middle of her set for stupid shit like fucking up the lyrics to jay-z's "big pimpin". i had planned on seeing her for this tour, but she did that thing she does.

True. I still love Cat Power. Joanna Newsom isn't far behind her, though. |
i think most people would consider the slits and x-ray spex as quite important to, atleast to punk. i can't even think of 1 all girl band before the slits. ?
