NYCG+F
i think this is a great album, but from reading what some of you have been saying for the past while it seems some of you dont think the same..
maybe this thread has been done before but straight up...who likes it and who doesnt |
i think it's one of the most sy experimental albums...
it's a great album and it's wonderful listen to the bumbershoot version where they played the songs in the instrumental way i think before it was released |

i'm not familar with that version, whats it about? |
i like it.
it's good for windy winter evenings while reading book in your room. |
Shit, I voted wrong! I thought I was voting about how I feel about Experimental Jet Set.
Sorrysorrysorry, I LIKE NYCG&F! |
I like about 3.5 songs on this album (the .5 is the first half of Nevermind before Kim goes into her ridiculous jupiter/mars lyrics). That's the least amount of tracks off of any SY release.
So...no...I ain't feelin it. |
I really love it, it's in my top 6
|
great album .......... i love it
|
absolute great sy. took a while to "get into it" but love it to bits. in my top 3 sy proper albums after daydream and bad moon
|
It's aight... not great. Read my sig
|
Quite possibly my least favorite SY album, but the title track is awesome. Saddest song they've done, in my opinion.
|
Worst album they did in my opinion. If you wanna know all the reasons why then i'll type it up otherwise I can't be arsed explaing why. Although. I do need to relisten to it sometime soon.
|
i hated it so much when i first heard it, and then for about 2 years after buying it.
i like it now. |
One of my favourites - the production is so dry compared to their other album, this and Confusion stand out like sore thumbs from the rest of their stuff... which is a strength, to my mind, but I can understand why a lot of people don't get it. I feel more antipathy towards Nurse, which I really can't stand at all.
|
One of my favourite SY albums, probably in the top 3 with DDN and EVOL
|
I love it.

If you are reading a book in your room while listening to NNYCG&F, you are not listening to NYCG&F. As I posted at some length elsewhere, NYCG&F is one of SY's most lyrically impressive albums, with some of their most poetic songs. To read while listening to this album is to do this album a disservice. (Now, I know I'm going to get slammed for coming down all heavy-handed and altruistic about this, but hey, just gotta say it, for the craic if nothing else!) cbeattie |
it depends on what mood i am in. so i didnt vote.
i like it but cant say i love it. |
I love it, but it's my least fave. Great tour though.

i know what you mean, i get a real errie sad buzz off that song also, i left my two friends in my room one day with that song on, i took a shower came back in, one was derranged and the other had finally converted to Sonic Youth, i mean, it was that song at that time - he just said fuck it, i fuckin love this band. i had been playing SY round him for years but it was just one of those "straw that broke the camel's back" moments, ever since then, he's never looked back, he's name is "tom violence" in my phone, he put it in that way |
