Don't Do Meth

This reminds me. I went to see Sicko last night, right?

They have all these commercials before the previews (which is ridiculous, I didn't pay to see these fucking commercials). There was an anti-pot Public Service Announcement. This girl goes to get a drink from the fridge and then her dog walks up and looks at her and says "Lindsey, don't smoke pot. You're a different person when you're high, and I don't like it." and then it walked away. It was so random. It's mouth didn't even move, the voice just came out of no where when the camera was on the fucking dog.

The theater wasn't very crowded, but I busted up laughing so hard at how ridiculous the whole thing was. I just couldn't help myself. No one else laughed though. I felt like a thorough jack ass, even though I still think it is hilarious.

Edit: Never mind, the mouth does move. http://youtube.com/watch?v=k5q_cAEBmsw

i saw some antimeth documentary while i was at sxsw. not that you'd need anything to scare you out of doing meth, but seeing a pregnant woman do that shit was heartbreaking.

val-holla-ing 07.02.2007 12:26 AM

shit. i just realised that the documentary was done by the same folks spearheading this campaign.

meff bad.

HaydenAsche 07.02.2007 02:01 PM

I've watched pregnant mothers smoke meth.

I've buried friends and acquantances who were meth heads.

I've seen all of my cousins go to jail for meth.

Don't fuck with meth. The high isn't even that good.

Alex's Trip 07.02.2007 02:06 PM

And your location is "a meth lab"

HaydenAsche 07.02.2007 02:08 PM

It's a very spot-on way of describing my home town. I don't smoke meth. Don't misinterpret that.

Savage Clone 07.02.2007 02:11 PM

I like my teeth in my head and my face relatively free of festering lesions.
Vanity alone will keep me away from this stuff.

Got it.

The worst that happened in my town was a guy using heroin at a different high school. There are a lot of speed users in my old neighborhood. I wish I still lived there though. My nice new suburban complex is so fucking boring.

I was talking to an old friend of mine, and she told me what was going on there. Her brother was in rehab, got arrested for drunk driving, a guy across the street got arrested for statutory rape, and another guy was permanently fucked on some drugs. And she suspects that the person that moved into my old house is a "classy prostitute". It isn't even that excited, but still...

Is this the town from Gummo by any chance?

Alex's Trip 07.02.2007 02:29 PM

Nope, that's as about as interesting as my town gets. Everything else is boring as hell. Unless you count getting a new Stater Bros. Lowes, and possibly a Super Walmart exciting.

My dog looks at me weirdly when I'm high, kind of looks a bit nervous and ashamed.

Trasher02 07.02.2007 05:45 PM

This campaign is just so stupid, it actually makes me want to do meth.

i WOULD take wal-mart over the fokls you described, but they probably spend nights browsing the aisles there, so it's lose-lose.

True.

But this is a Super Walmart. Classy.

gmku 07.03.2007 12:18 AM

Meth is big in Iowa, especially in little towns. But I've seen Iowa's little towns, and I'm not sure I can blame their people for wanting an escape from reality. The towns are dying, and I think meth is one symptom of bigger problems here.

Saw a T-shirt on a girl that said "Don't do Meth. Do math!" Yeah, right, that'll convince the kids.

Alex's Trip 07.03.2007 12:19 AM

It'd convince me. :(

gmku 07.03.2007 12:21 AM

Are you a math nerd? Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Alex's Trip 07.03.2007 12:24 AM

I'm a math enthusiast.

I don't like doing math, but I can enjoy it because I do really well at it.

...

...

Yeah, I'm a math nerd.

gmku 07.03.2007 12:28 AM

Well, like i said, nothing wrong with that. Certainly better than doing meth.
