Spacemen 3

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.

king_buzzo 05.05.2007 04:52 AM

rule.

Pookie 05.05.2007 05:05 AM

I've not managed to get to the cinema to see it yet. But I've heard...

oh, sorry Spacemen 3. How confusing.

king_buzzo 05.05.2007 05:09 AM

Haha, yeah, the 2 threads look alike, the spidey and this thread...

sonicl 05.05.2007 05:33 AM

Pookie 05.05.2007 05:51 AM

Is that one of their lyrics?

sun city girl 05.05.2007 06:48 AM

playing with fire is my fave.

sonicl 05.05.2007 07:34 AM

Music that's heavily influenced by heroin has always left me a bit cold, but Perfect Prescription has such a beautiful feel to it that I can forgive it its junkie-ness.

Onani Nic 05.05.2007 08:06 AM

I've only heard Perfect Prescription, Recurring and Taking Drugs...

Taking Drugs is my favourite

Savage Clone 05.05.2007 08:48 AM

I think The Perfect Prescription best encapsulates the band, and I like that they were still a more collaborative unit at that time. I love all their albums (though Recurring has some pretty weak moments from both Pete and Jason), but The Perfect Prescription really does it for me in a major way. It has the fuzz and fury as well as the drone and chill.
Dreamweapon holds a special place in my heart too (I have the original CD and vinyl of this because of their important differences in length/material), but I view it as kind of separate from the other albums in a way.

MellySingsDoom 05.05.2007 09:05 AM

I voted for "Perfect Prescription", but my faves are still the early s3 singles.

sarramkrop 05.05.2007 09:11 AM

Sound Of Cofusion. It sounds exacly like what it says in the title.

hey alex 05.05.2007 12:27 PM

only heard perscription- but that ones killer. I did not vote.

floatingslowly 05.05.2007 12:45 PM

I can't vote. :(

I don't know what to choose.

my love of Spacemen3 (&Spiritualized) is only rivaled by Sonic Youth.

I first started listening to them in 1990, and I was convinced that I had finally found the perfect psychedelic band. I was taking large doses of lsd at the time, and well....they were the perfect match.

I love Sound of Confusion for it's raw fuzzy noise. Perfect Prescription is beautiful and almost seems to me the point where the paths of Sonic Boom and Jason started to diverge. I'm not sure I even think of Recurring as a Spacemen3 album....it's half Spectrum and half Spiritualized.

I never got Taking Drugs (To Make Music To Take Drugs To) because it was a compilation of everything I already had, but I still think that it's the most brilliant name for an album ever.

I only have the cd and it's only 1 track that's about 44 minutes long. I can't say that I listen to it as much as the other stuff, but it really has it's moments (god I love the tiny bit of Honey). I found it for $10 at a used cd store in Dallas back in 92 and almost peed myself out of sheer joy that day.

good times.

Kallisti23chaos 05.05.2007 11:08 PM

I fell in love with this band. i listened over and over.
My Favorite Is Taking Drugs. pun intended**
Although The Perfect Prescription is a very close second.

thanx to my Guru**

krastian 05.06.2007 01:05 AM

Hmmmm, I like them all pretty equally, but I too am going with Perfect Prescription.

I have a couple of boots (haven't listened to them yet) from 89 or so if anybody is up for that kind of action.

Everyneurotic 05.06.2007 01:09 AM

i voted for dreamweapon but that's pretty unfair because it's atypical to most of their work and i haven't heard all of them.
