Jimmy Cobb 1929-2020
 

The last survivor of the peerless band who made Kind Of Blue: Miles, Trane, Cannonball, Cobb, Chambers, Evans (Wynton Kelly on one track, "psyched" by Davis to play like Bill :)). He did SO much more, of course: Giant Steps, Porgy And Bess, Sketches Of Spain, a boatload of albums as leader, hundreds of collaborations, so it seems pretty damn unfair to remember him for that one album that everybody has. But it's true that a second of Kind Of Blue music "contains multitudes", as they say, and it makes him freakin' IMMORTAL.
