Psychedelic Beauty

Lately I've been listening to lots of psychedelic 60's material.

Last night I was introduced to The Deep - AMAZING tracks and amazing lyrics.

One of my old bands used to cover "Magic Potion." Great tune. Sun Dial did a great version too; can be found on the excellent "Return Journey" LP.

it's great how much of this type of stuff has been uploaded on to youtube and you can go from great track to great track via the suggestions column.

Toilet & Bowels 09.14.2010 05:31 PM

also i would strongly recommend downloading DJ Shadow's Diminishing Returns Party Pak as the second part of it is a fantastic mix of garage psych obscurities

here's one of the tracks from it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57eppT0KTJ0

My parents had that in the cassette deck all the way to New Mexico when we moved there from MN in 1976. We were in my dad's customized Dodge Tradesman 200, which he had paneled in cedar wood (smelled great) with a bed in the back. He used to travel around the southwest an Mexico, living in it and making/selling leather purses, hats, etc.

Those Moody Blues LPs are cheesy, but I have a soft spot for them because of this.

SO - how did you make it back to MN?

Slim pickings for jobs in that part of NM. My parents did pretty well for themselves after coming back.

Not yet, but I'd like to get some suggestions.

Also, thanks to Toilet & Bowels for mentioning that DJ Shadow thing.
