And also the trees

Are they worth a listen ?

They used to be, a very, very long time ago. Are they still making music, or is it older stuff that you're thinking about investigating?

By the sound of what you tend to listen to, you might enjoy them. Never been too much of a fan but out of all their records that I have listened to and remember, Virus Meadow has to be my favourite. I'm not sure if I am recommending them , but you might enjoy them.

According to Allmusicguide their last release is from 2003. I'm more interested in investigating the 80s stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was afraid they'd be just a pale copy of The Cure or Joy Division, so apparently they're not (even if they're certainly not on a par with those two bands).

Thanks to both of you for your replies ;)

I've just realised, I saw them supporting The Cure when they toured The Top. I don't remember much about them though.

They're okay, not one of my favorite bands or anything, but they do have some top shelf songs.

They have a couple of live shows coming up:

13/10/07 - BUSH HALL, LONDON
For the first time in 15 years AATT will make an extremely rare London appearance in this ornate turn-of-the-century dance hall. Tickets are limited so email AATT for further information and to reserve a place. Tickets are priced at 15.00 GBP including booking fee.

24/11/07 - LA MAROQUINERIE, PARIS
Details of where to get tickets to be announced soon...

The support at the London date is Julia Kent, who I think is fantastic, so I'm going to that just to see her.

I enjoy an occasion AATT song, but mostly for a goof. That singer is way over-the-top with the melodrama. The band's music is appealing enough on the first album even if not for a goof. Surely, it's very comparable to early Cure. Very restrained. "Wallpaper Dying" is the title of one song that I can actually remember. Perhaps the others didn't make enough of an impression on me.

Later stuff I heard started to dabble more in the "chamber rock" realm. I had a copy of the single for "Lady D'Arbanville." The string music was too precious for me to bear, and the vocals were even 200% more over-the-top. I sold it back very quickly and never looked back. Maybe I've missed something since then...I dunno.
