All very nice but who is it? Fucking albums with no details on the front piss me off.

Severian 11.10.2013 11:11 AM

Oh, shit. I'm really sorry... I hate that too and I really want people to buy this album!

Artist: Botany
Album: Lava Diviner

Sunbather is pretty epic.

'Where What's Happening' (EP) by Liesa Van Der Aa
Featuring covers of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, PJ Harvey & Dalida.
Especially the first two covers are really amazing imo.

EP is available for stream here: http://liesavanderaa.bandcamp.com

What did I tell you? It's surprising how much the album grows on you, and how hard it is to stop listening once you've started.

I've never known Deafhaven to be considered a particularly substantive band, but now I think I might be getting back into metal, if only a bit, as a direct result of having heard this album.

it's like shoegazy emo black metal. the album just hit me immediately, great stuff.

New Magik Markers is really cool, always good to hear new material by these guys.

Listen to it here

Is this Disclosure album any good?

no....maybe the worst thing I've ever heard this year, all over the radio here. ultra-pristine, soulless trash, a cynical encapsulation of british 'bass' music created solely as a means of spoon-feeding uneducated american audiences. utter shit, to be frank.

new magik markers record is sick.

stephen o'malley x mika vainio, with contributions from eyvind kang and alan dubin. scorched drone.

hardly new at this point but a new gate record - moths.

logos - cold mission [keysound]
a deconstructionist's take on grime
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jhu-k8Cx8v0

FIS - preparations [tri angle]
new zealander making abstracted drum 'n' bass in the same sense that lee gamble is interpreting jungle/techno, torn apart leaving the elements to breathe in isolation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98nEfwMASrA

c spencer yeh / lasse marhaug / okkyung lee - wake up awesome [software]
playful noise vignettes from some gunz of the genre
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFjYz9oLat4

emptyset - recur [raster noton]
grinding sonic bombardment. molasses-black detritus flying inta yr face.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1EALXwkMlI

chocolate_ladyland 11.22.2013 02:53 PM

Goddamn... Tri Angle and Software are quickly becoming two of my favorite labels

Modern Love and Blackest Ever Black are fantastic too. Any other similar labels to check out?

Torn Curtain 11.24.2013 09:32 AM

Alela Diane - About farewell.

Magnificent album, much better than her previous releases which were OK but a bit boring.

Genteel Death 11.24.2013 05:51 PM

that magik markers is good.

anything else i can't be bothered or simply don't like. sometimes i forget people make music in 2013. what for?.....

i have no clue. it all sounds and looks

the same to me. lo fi shit or emotionless high tech garbage.

i mean just look at those album covers. so slick and ready for

advertisment geeks to expose.
take a look inside and nut in the faces of the buying public.

name me one new extraordinary band in 2013. you fucking can't!!! because it's fucking garbage!!!!

Genteel Death 11.24.2013 06:30 PM

Maybe you should re-read your own post before you suggest I am bitter.

the only two I would follow really religiously are eMego and PAN, two labels which are unfailingly fucking brilliant (the former in particular, this year they have absolutely slain everyone else hard). but in that vein in particular I'd say diagonal, which is powell's label, with that recent shit & shine 12" as well as stuff from blood music and prostitutes (in addition to powell's awesome eps himself), with upcoming stuff from russell haswell and fucking death comet crew, which should be sick. karl o'connor's label downwards is really cool too, branched out from straight industrial techno into post-punk with dva damas and tropic of cancer.

kinda broke, so won't be able to get this for a while myself, but i trust this man

never liked his paintings much though...

selkcip 11.27.2013 07:43 PM

that's one of his best album covers thus far... love the colors.

chocolate_ladyland 12.04.2013 06:22 PM

This new Haim album is fucking terrible. Can't believe it's getting good reviews.
