The Real Ramona is quite good.Especially side 1.

ihateyouth 03.02.2009 03:42 PM

It's the first I heard, I love Red Shoes.

gmku 03.02.2009 03:45 PM

They're good. Used to listen to em all the time between about 88 and 92. I think my favorite is still the debut.

Sort of Classic Alternative Rock by now, though.

Toilet & Bowels 03.02.2009 04:11 PM

i bought red heaven (because it's supposedly their "best" record) after having heard about them for years and i thought it was rubbish, then some years later a friend lent me an early EP and i thought it was pretty good.

tesla69 03.02.2009 04:17 PM

We had a word for them back in the 80's when I lived in Boston, the same as for the Lemonheads: SHIT!

Oh, let me bold that for emphasis: SHIT!

ihateyouth 03.02.2009 04:22 PM

I guess you were more into metal or new wave.

ihateyouth 03.02.2009 04:23 PM

The first one - especially Delicate Cutters. There's a live in London album with a super version of that song too.

we just didn't like sissy shit, enough of that on commercial radio.

Kuhb 03.02.2009 05:14 PM

I thought University kicked a lot of ass

pbradley 03.02.2009 06:03 PM

I dig the release of their demo and debut In A Doghouse.

Also Limbo.

SuperCreep 03.03.2009 01:10 PM

I like a few songs off of their debut. I haven't explored them outside of that.

greedrex 03.03.2009 02:52 PM

I own University, Ramona and Limbo. The three are great but i like the songs on University a lot.

demonrail666 03.03.2009 03:12 PM

I could never get into them. Not that I really tried much. There seemed to be some kind of an invisible line that stretched from them through The Pixies and on to PJ Harvey. They seemed to have similar fans. I never liked the Pixies or PJ Harvey either.

greedrex 03.03.2009 05:41 PM

^^ they're all great bands / artists.

narlus 03.03.2009 10:05 PM

gonna see them in two weeks' time...first time since '91 or so.

ZEROpumpkins 03.04.2009 01:58 AM

I had the Real Ramona but didn't like it much. Counting Backwards was OK, but sounded a lot like Where is my Mind?

auto-aim 03.04.2009 08:53 AM

I never really checked them out - but they're a lot like the pixies are they not? I like like Kristen Hersh a lot though, or well have done... aint listened to her in a while - i always thought me and my charms was good, the strings version also.. but i'd need to check that out again as i aint listened in so long

not at all.

the two bands were friends, but the sounds are pretty different.

hersh has a very unique vocal style, and is very forceful/compelling.
