I havent heard of this festival before (probably because im not from Ireland), but they Youth have some festival dates announced already so I wouldnt be surprised...

It's a great 3 day festival. Put it this way - it has Gang of Four confirmed on the lineup.

If Sonic Youth get added, I'm going to puke with excitement. There are also rumours of: Stereolab, Wilco and the possibility of Yo La Tengo.

Like I say, I will puke. Then I will grin. Grin a big pukey grin.

I predict SY joining the line up for Reading / Leeds festival on the Pearl Jam day too.

greenlight 04.04.2006 02:44 PM

hey I think miss you! nice to see you back! what's the story man? how you keeping.

Yeah i saw gang of four on the list....isn't it one of steve's favourites band? they'd played together on some spanish festival last summer, maybe i'm wrong.

you can only buy a weekend ticket for Electric Picnic at €180 which are almost sold out cuz there are only about 20,000 (there are no day tickets on sale at all) so basically i hope this is NOT true, cuz i would have to spend €180 to sleep in a field about 4 miles from my house, now dont get me wrong, i'm the biggest SY fan but this festival, while it is good and all is about to sell out on the strength of the bands there already
if you remember a post from the old forum, i said i had a dream about this
SY should play a date in dublin on their own as apposed to this...

ithinkimissyou 04.05.2006 05:05 AM

fish, i already have my ticket so i'm biased in wanting them to play EP. but sonics - how about a nice compromise, hows about two irish dates? :P
dublin, olympia - and electric picnic? actually im sure belfast and cork would love some sonic loving too.

hey greenlight, it's cool to see you're here still :) - i kinda disappeared off the face of the net for a while, for various boring reasons. anyways, i'm good - still in college, but in a work placement at the moment.... so i'm a sonic youth fan in a suit and tie, four days a week. i feel sick and wrong. but at least it means i can afford stuff.

how are things going with you?

fishmonkey 04.05.2006 05:18 AM

yeah your right a concert in two places would be good, dont think it will happen though, i'm gonna go mad if i dont see em on this tour. fuckin hell, should i get a ticket? yikes i'm freakin out

i'm the same. i've been on the EP board and asked about it - no replies though. now usually, the moderator will say if someone is definitely not playing, but she isnt so great at saying who is if the name hasnt already been released. which i can understand, but i dont think it's very fair on people like yourself. 180 is a lot of money - and the last two gigs theyve played here have had hefty price tags too. i know it's not their fault, but it's annoying to be paying so much and not getting to see them have the opportunity to play a full set.

i've heard that there are a good few EP tickets left still, and if that's true there's no need to freak out just yet.

tom dunne apparently said wilco were playing - but again this hasnt been confirmed. the next annoucements about the lineup is supposed to be on the 19th of april. so unless one of the band happens upon this thread and answers, i guess we'll have to wait till then.

fishmonkey 04.05.2006 05:49 AM

yeah, jeese thanks for the advice, i saw em last year in Marley Park and Wittness a few years ago, i just wanna normal gig (olympia or something!) and under your instruction i wont freak out just yet!
