I actually prefer Pet sounds in stereo.

Regarding the Beatles Rubber soul is defininitely better in mono too.

if youve always had a shit stereo then it doesnt make too much of a difference. My speakers are to my right and the stereo effect doesnt seem much different to mono

I had a bootleg of The Woods in mono that I actually quite enjoyed as opposed to stereo. The difference is most noticeable in headphones because each channel is identical while your ears are used to stereo sound and so creates a different effect, almost a kind of layering because each ear is trying to process the sounds as if they were slightly different whereas they are the same.

Nothing is better in mono. Nothing.

Well... maybe early Kinks.

Nothing else.

Listen to Piper at the Gates of Dawn and watch your mind change in 40 minutes. That mix is so insanely in your face, it's no comparison. It's like a whole new album appearing.

Most of Beatles stuff are better in mono..the way they used stereo is so fucked up, like bass+drums on left and guitar+vocals on the right..horrible..

Nope.

Every wall of sound record is better in mono.

Every one.

That's why everyone who tries to sound like anything phil spector did or brian wilson can't match up. (in stereo)

That's true. Spectre set the standard for mono. He made it an advantage.

This is why I am trying to find all the albums that are better in mono. The sound of it is so much better I am obsessed with it. All of the great albums from that period just have so much more depth in mono. Not to mention that at that period the mono version was the way the artist wanted to present the album.

The Kinks are releasing all the original albums in mono soon and I can not wait to hear them.

I just recently bought pet sounds on vinyl, in mono, and I heard some back up vocals I've never heard before...I thought I was tripping.
