How Bout Some Love For EJSTNS!

i get the feeling most of you don't like this album. prove me wrong! only thing i don't like about it is the cover. :)

deflinus 06.02.2008 06:47 PM

all of these 'i like ejstns and nobody else does, why?' posts are starting to make me hate the album..

nah, just kidding. i like that album a lot. but why hate the cover? i like it. i think they're really cool photos of the band

o'connor 06.02.2008 06:49 PM

cause i hate it when artists are on the cover of the album... most of the time. there is very few exceptions. :)

This Is Not Here 06.02.2008 06:54 PM

Its alright, and the cover is alright. Its never been an album where I've felt there is much to discuss.

uhler 06.02.2008 06:59 PM

one of my favorites by them.

It is a pretty good listen, and Bull In The Heather has to be one of SY's greatest songs. However, it is an album in the generic brainless sense- a collection of songs. They don't flow or link at all, and theres nothing profound about the record, not like Daydream Nation or Washing Machine. To be honest, far more can be expected of SY - but hell, did they deliver on the record after...

Ugh another one. Great album, less love from hardcore fans.

Phlegmscope 06.02.2008 07:17 PM

It's one of the better albums of the 90's era.

o'connor 06.02.2008 07:37 PM

i think it flows fine: starfield road-screamingskull. c'mon.

DON 06.03.2008 08:20 AM

Who told you that fans hate it? Just because it isn't mentioned as "the masterpiece" (like Daydream Nation)?
Critics liked it a lot and somehow, it was a way back to noisy roots (after the popy "Goo" & "Dirty")...
I like it a lot (Especially "Self-obsessed and sexee", one of my all-time favs) but "Washing Machine" is better, indeed...

PAULYBEE2656 06.03.2008 08:31 AM

again.. ill say it again. experimental would have made a great e.p. some great songs on it but as an album its one of sy poorest.. their poorest is still miles bettert han many bands vest work tho.. its all relative!!!

as for the album cover.. nah, my least favourite... i prefer these

this is going on tonight. I've not felt it yet so tonight is the night

screamingskull 06.03.2008 10:36 AM

hasn't there been like 12 of these threads about EJST&NS.

I love it. It is wonderful.

greedrex 06.03.2008 10:47 AM

kool on blue waxxx

el micky 06.03.2008 11:12 AM

i like it a lot.

i like that sy have enough records that you can have 'personal favourites' which wont normally get mentioned, as well as more kind of accepted classics like washing machine or ddn or murray street or whatever...
like the beatles! or miles davis! they are like little gems waiting to be discovered after you get through the more obvious ones.

Derek 06.03.2008 11:59 AM

I think it's their worst set of songs. The early 90s were an awful period for the Yoof imo.

radarmaker 06.03.2008 01:34 PM

I like it, but like everything other SY album more. Simple as that.

deflinus 06.03.2008 02:34 PM

i never see any sonic youth songs as bad. because the ones i called bad before, i ended up liking a lot on a certain day or mood.

this is exactly how I feel

when I say it is the worst sy album, that's is still better than any modest mouse.

Androol 06.03.2008 05:47 PM

the first album of theirs to be released while I was a fan so itll always be very special to me. when dirty came out all my friends were playing it constantly but I didnt "get it" till the next year.
