Paul McCartney sells 4000 tickets in 7 seconds

Quote:

Paul McCartney sold out his appearance at the opening week festivities of the New Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV on April 19 in a reported seven seconds. The 4,000 tickets sold out at the rate of 600 or so a second.

According to concert promoters Concerts West/AEG Live, it is a record with other records expected to be set, including "the planet's biggest 'love-in' for Valentine couples: Tickets were deliberately put on sale on February 14 so that lovers could express their feelings with the ultimate Valentine's Day gift surprise," according to a press release.

"Although Guinness World Records cites numerous records relating to Valentine's Day, nobody has managed a Valentine's party this big before so we'll be claiming that," added a spokesman for Concerts West/AEG Live. "And there is another Guinness record it would be cool to break there, too: The world record for the most couples hugging simultaneously is 1,451, set in Taiwan in 2007."

The astonishing demand for the McCartney "love-in" which will inaugurate The New Joint is evidenced, too, by sky-high prices getting asked by scalpers: The media site Examiner.com reports one pair of top-line seats are on sale at $9,999.

"It's going to be a night like Vegas has never seen before," noted the spokesman. "Paul will leave The Joint smoking."

One day I'll wake up and have to think of new prayers relating to the deaths of well-known celebrities.

you know those "sales" are not REAL right?

the ticket scalpers and the ticket vendors buy whole lots of tickets through a preferred vendor system, which allows them to gather up tix in the first few minutes they go on sale.
Not only that but the artist's themselves are now buying batches of the best tickets before they go on sale, so they can then re-sell them and make more money. article about that here.

Virtually every major concert tour today involves some official tickets that are priced and sold as if they were offered for resale by fans or brokers, but that are set aside by the artists and promoters, according to a number of people involved in the sales.
That includes recent tours by Bon Jovi, Celine Dion and Van Halen, and a current tour starring Billy Joel and Elton John. Spokesmen for Bon Jovi and Ms. Dion had no comment. A spokesman for Van Halen said that the band could not be reached. A booking agent for Messrs. Joel and John did not respond to requests for comment.

all this bullshit helps the fake-ass HYPE machine to shout from all possible entertainment media that so-and-so sold 7000 seats in less than 3 minutezs! he must be relevant!!!!!!!
