Recommend me a nice and not too expensive turntable.

I've never had a really 'nice' turntable...just a cheap sony most of the time.

I'm leaning towards direct drive...are they more reliable? I had my platter and belt fall off my sony while moving and since putting it back on, the f'n pitch is faster and I can't stand it.

I really liked the Technics ones that this pirate station had I used to do a show at...

Is there a solid decently priced turntable, that's kind of like 'the standard' in turntables?
:confused::confused::confused:

I don't need to scratch or anything and have no 78's...for what it's worth.

I have a Technic that's been with me for 5 years. Pretty solid machines. I'm not too sure about prices or anything these days. Sorry, brother.

So, you moved up to 'the cities' now, brother?

Oh, yeah, man. Living in the Wedge. Enjoying every minute away from rednecks.

That looks nice...do you have one?

I own a Stanton T.50 with a preamp from http://www.phonopreamps.com

Couldn't be happier....

Technics belt driven tables are hell of a lot cheaper than their direct drive tables, and they're really nice. I got mine for 20 bucks at a animal shelter's thrift store. SL-B205

It's really nice, has a fine speed adjustment, which is a MUST IMO. Even if you aren't beat-matching, some turn-tables are just a little off in speed, and being able to adjust that to get it right is really nice. The arm/weight combo is also very nice quality, I can get it to float ever so nicely over a record.

Someday I'd love to get a pair of Technics SL-1200s, but mine is good for now.
