He deserves to be bashed in multiple threads.

i just don't understand what your logic behind hating him so much can POSSIBLY be. you don't have to like bob dylan, but you have to respect him. if you like any sonic youth lyrics, then you have to realize that without him, poetic lyrics would not exist in pop music

CHOUT 05.08.2006 01:39 AM

I have a telecaster that allegedly belonged to him. Bringing It All Back Home Is my fave.

noumenal 05.08.2006 01:51 AM

I'm not really into singer/songwriter stuff. This is mainly because I have a tendency to ignore lyrics. And if you ignore lyrics, you'll be pretty bored listening to Bob Dylan. But there are few (if any) better than Dylan at what he does. I guess.

I have Another Side of Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, Highway 61 Revisited, Nashville Skyline, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, and The Times They Are A-Changin'. All good, but I don't listen to them much. To me, music that relies so heavily on lyrics doesn't reward a ton of re-listenings.

When it comes to actual songs, I prefer art song. There's more interaction between the vocal line and the music. The music in Dylan (and a lot of singer/songwriter stuff) often seems like just a vehicle for his lyrics. Rap music for white folks, in a way. That's a really rough analogy. Anyway, it is really hard to resist when he starts in with the harmonica. Honestly, it gets me in a soft spot. Like those places on a baby's head. Mmmmmm.

OK, you might dislike his music, but what do his looks have to do with anything?

Wow. That's pretty cool. Bringing It All Back Home is my favorite too just over Blonde On Blonde.

CHOUT 05.08.2006 03:11 AM

I found a bunch of original 60's lps in good shape at a thrift store, including Blonde On Blonde, Highway 61, Bringing It All...,Nashville,Freewheelin' + Byrds and a few others...a real decent haul. My fucking card wouldn't work, so I couldn't get 'em and they probably got snatched up pretty quick. I already had a few of them, but I was gonna replace my hacked copies and give those away.

When I got the Tele the guy said Dylan's nephew Seth(?) had consigned the gtr. He got it from Dylan, Dylan got it from Robbie Robertson. Could be a tall story, but you never know...

DemonBox 05.08.2006 04:19 AM

yeah, i really like dylan. especially Blood On The Tracks, I really like the songs on that one.

They're viable material for when I feel like being senselessly cruel.

Better just to avoid cruelty.
Give Blonde On Blonde a listen, then decide.

johnnywinternoshow 05.08.2006 02:34 PM
