I love King Khan, it's somewhat surrealistic; you'd think you were listening to poorly recorded 50's rock, until he throws in some cuss words or breaks out into punk. |

Hemorrhoy Rogers and the Rrhoid Boyz.
This shit is AMAZING. His site is an almost unreadable and extremely long list of lyrics with the occasional mis-linked porn or death image and links to purchase his CDs. The site is extremely funny to just read through the lyrics of the songs in a single sitting, but woe betide the fool who actually thinks it's a good idea to buy one of the CDs. All humor and sick genius is quickly leeched from the songs when you hear them performed in an agonizing fake retard warble. Sample lyric: Rob Sutton Fucked Meg Ryan / Rob fucked my mom, / Then Rob fucked my dog! YEAH!!! |
Now I'm listening to Watching From a Distance by Warning. This is my favorite black metal album ever besides Weakling's Dead as Dreams.
Warning are a U.K. Doom band fronted by vocalist/guitarist Pat Walker(cousin of John Walker member of Soltice another U.K. Doom band.) Watching from a Distance contains possibly the most obliterating and crushing doom metal riffs ever laid down on tape. I have albums from Candlemass and Solitude Aeternus, Trouble and so forth, but imho this destroys them all. The guitar work gives off a gray atmosphere, beautifully melodic and expertly played. The bass at times seems to play another melodic line altogether different but so fitting. The drumming is organic, heavy, slow and precise. The vocals have sort of a nasal tone, but after subsequent listens they correlate with the music perfectly. The lyrical content is about love and loss. And if you don't feel emotion from this music; sorrow and mournful, then your not breathing. Maybe the difference from the above-mentioned bands is Warning infuse some "funeral doom" into their mix. Whatever it is, I have never heard such a monumental work in this specific genre. Do Not pass this up if you like Doom, for this is an essential album. Look around for this, you can haul it for much cheaper. |

Just downloaded a shitload of insane albums, sampled a few songs from each:
Jason Schnimell - Orange Tulip Conspiracy Stump - A Fierce Pancake Cheer-Accident - Enduring the American Dream Make a Rising - Infinite Ellipse and Head with Open Font Also, still getting all the Mark Prindle albums which are blowing me away. Fuck. |
In all seriousness, Make a Rising - Infinite Ellipse and Head with Open Font is the best cd I've heard in long time. Whoa. Really insane avant-prog stuff.

I know, for starting a thread about my usual dissatisfaction with Tzadik, I've listened to a lot of stuff off of it today... Quote:
I love this video. I think somebody linked to it a while back on my Nels Cline thread. Or maybe it wasn't my thread, I don't remember now. But the link was there nonetheless :) |
