Mary Halvorson.

I'm just listening to her on a Radio 3 programme. It kind of sounds like jazz, but with 'out' guitar bits. I think some of you might like it. She's somehow managing to make the transition from 'straight' playing to not-straight with the minimum of faff.

This is all.

I love the stuff she's done with Jessica Pavone.

There's some good live stuff on Youtube from the pair.

ilduclo 03.01.2010 06:05 PM

she's done some good work w/Ches SMith and also with Jessica Pavone

And with Anthony Braxton.

This is like that time at school I thought I was introducing the new kid and it turned out more people knew him than knew me.

No, wait...

Glice 03.01.2010 06:08 PM

Well, make up your own less pathetic simile. And then fuck off.

"It's like the time when I thought I was introducing a new musician to a bunch of witless cunts only to realise that two of the cunts had heard of her already".

Glice 03.01.2010 06:12 PM

That's good... it's got cunt... just needs actual wit.

Pookie 03.01.2010 06:12 PM

Whoever the fuck ilduclo is?!

Teach me to never look at music threads:o.

The stuff on that Radio 3 show sounded great, as did the band before it 'Polar Bear'.

Worth a listen probably. I haven't heard it myself yet. Wifey's watching The Bill.

great guitar player, she is very schooled but also has her own voice and non technical type leanings... had the pleasure of doing an opening set for her and Jessica and they played here last year.
