inspired and optimistic

I'm currently feeling inspired and optimistic about the art I make. I've been sitting here all night listening to soundcloud artists that follow me and I've been emailing some of them to tell them how much I enjoyed listening to what they were doing. I feel I've hit a plateau where I've acquired a lot of confidence as a musician and I've currently been sending a lot of bigger labels my music (Kranky, Alien8 etc.) and who knows, maybe something will pan out.

So I guess discuss times where you've felt like this.

As of late, but it's been a bit odd. Been hanging around this kid, Will. I've known him 6 years but up until about a month ago I'd only seen/spoken with him a small handful of times. He's a bit younger (22), and on some strange quest for self discovery. Just recently dropped out of school...something I didn't encourage but now that the deed is done, oh well. He's planning on working on some nature reserve in the north Georgia mountains for a few months and will be leaving sometime over the next few weeks. Been crashing at my place, lots of jamming and exchanging of books + music. Acid Mothers Temple, Hakim Bey spoken word, Guru Guru, Flower Traveling Band, Aliester Crowley, Black Elk, Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Magik Markers, William S. Burroughs, Sonic Youth, The Minutemen, collaborative cut-ups, Ali Akbar Khan, girls on the floor piecing together cosmic collages while the boys jam out noise chaos and spacey blues...lots of these things and heavy conversation good/bad and every bit of inspirational convo. Beer and stuff. Recently obtained a buffalo drum and an electronic tampura. Cool. This girl got murdered down the street recently, not cool. Lots of people crashing on my floor after late night hang outs....needless to say they don't want to be wondering/wandering the streets. Rumor has it body parts are still being searched for, as the girl was completely dismembered. Really, shit is super sad and seeing all the cards/flowers posted around the complex this girl lived at (literally some two minute walk away from where I reside) has just made me embrace my friends all the more. Weird vibes everywhere...but yeah, good/bad every bit of inspirational. People are important. Too bad some of them are so far out of tune with the things that actually matter most.

I'll take that as a compliment.

;)

Yeah, can you imagine having to read that self-involved, overly-long, piss-dull, pseudo-revolutionary tripe masquerading as insightful comment? Can you imagine, Nik? Can you? Imagine? That? Doing that? Reading... that?

ann ashtray 07.06.2011 06:29 AM

you must spread....

EVOLghost 07.06.2011 06:33 AM

I'm feeling inspired right now. Just heard a 9 year old was shot in the head this morning.

EVOLghost 07.06.2011 06:34 AM

Seriously though....WTF!

EVOLghost 07.06.2011 06:35 AM

PS. I only feel good while driving.....Even if I have road rage.

knox 07.06.2011 10:44 AM

First of all. I love driving. And yes...I believe it to show a bit of your character. Me....I'm not really an aggressive driver and normally I drive speed limit and not like an asshole. But then there are times when I am in a hurry and then hell breaks loose....or maybe if I'm just in a bad mood. Like just recently(yesterday) Some dood in a semi cut me off. I honked my horn (and yes I am a prick about that shit) and he got mad and started yelling at me from his truck. The guy wanted to fight apparently since he was waving me over....well...hmmm now thinking abuot it. Driving can be pretty nasty. But Yeah...I love driving, when in the car, I feel like I'm in my own world.

EVOLghost 07.06.2011 04:30 PM

ALSO! It's the perfect time to listen to music. When driving long distances by yourself.

Derek 07.06.2011 07:10 PM

I just came here to say I didn't read sway's post either.

SpaceCadetHayden 07.06.2011 09:53 PM

Swayze

Glice 07.07.2011 05:09 AM

Not being self-involved. Duh.
