Good try at giving deserved praise to a band they often have shamefully overlooked or otherwise ignored. A list of thirty means there's a wide room for interesting thoughts, but I found it ultimately boring. Pales in comparison to jennthebenn's writing in regards to her own considerations of the best 30 and 10 worst from the Sonic Youth catalog, in my most humble opinion. Not much to be found on this, other than just maybe a lot of fun on the youtube vids.

The only thing to see were the youtube videos. Some I had never seen, like that Free City Rhymes one.

I was reading the captions but stopped after about the 5th one.

Yeah, I agree. I went through the whole thing. By avoiding reading, you didn't miss anything significant.

Nice live videos. Anyway, here's RS list:

the burning spear
making the nature scene
brother james
death valley '69
shadow of a doubt
tom violence
expressway to yr skull
schizophrenia
cotton crown
white kross
teenage riot
candle
eric's trip
kool thing
mote
100%
drunken butterfly
sugar kane
bull in the heather
starfield road
the diamond sea
skip tracer
washing machine
the ineffable me
free city rhymes
the empty page
i love you golden blue
jams run free
incinerate
calming the snake

and the notes about the songs are just 'facts'.. jenns list, on the other hand, had more personal descriptions = far better

sounds like its time for us to make our respective top 30s :P

The last 15 or so years only got 7 songs. That's the problem I had with their list.

Rolling Stone started sucking in the 70s. It's been a worthless rag for a long time.
