Mark Ibold thing: true or false?

Any more news on the "Mark playing bass on SY tour" thing?

PAULYBEE2656 04.21.2006 05:17 PM

i think its pretty true. thurston sounded sincere in the interview and it makes total sense. mark is a mate of theirs and he has worked with em before, well free kitten anyhoo, and a fifth member will ease the pressure of playing live every fucking night for all eternity. man, how do sy do so much shit, families, touring, recording, gigging, touring, side projects, books, film, touring, media shit, looking after their fanbase, touring, gigging, recording, etc, etc etc and NEVER ever do they complain even a tiny bit.

maybe thats why they rock so much and thats why we hold em in great esteem.

He did sound sincere but he didn't seem that sure, he said something like "I think Mark from Pavement will be playing with us", which suggests they haven't got it totally sorted, so maybe he won't be playing until later in the year.

EDIT: i have some knowledge based on some inside sources linked to lower manhatten (a friend of a friend works w/ Ibold)...

I posted some small details of what i know but retracted, because it wouldn't be fair to the band or Mark.

This is crazy and will make a huge difference on my opinion of the band. I'm hoping for it, as I'm a huge Pavement fan and always liked Mark Ibold (for some strange reason).

I remember when I saw pavement in concert, his bass was really loud and seemed a bit out of control, yet he looked like he was having fun playing it.

I say, let the bastard play!-
