Just spent a marathon weak watching every episode, the pilot, and the movie. Amazing stuff.

shentov 07.02.2006 10:01 AM

this series were killer influence for me in my childhood

I always thought you knew it was me!

I'm just going through season one again. Fire Walk With Me is in a couple ways my favorite of Lynch's, but I'm still holding out for a better dvd.

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 10:07 AM

Oh man it's just amazing and addicting. It didn't screw with me so much as it just captivated me.

My favorite of Lynch's is Mulholland Drive, because it is just a masterpiece of everything he does well. But it's honestly hard to pick a favorite after that point..

Jeffries: Well now, I'm not gonna talk about Judy. In fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it.
Cooper: Gordon?
Gordon: I KNOW, COOP!
Jeffries: Who do you think this is there?
Albert: Suffered some bumps on the old noggin, hey, Phil?
Gordon: WHAT THE HELL DID HE SAY THERE, ALBERT? THAT'S SPECIAL AGENT DALE COOPER! FOR GOD'S SAKES, JEFFRIES, WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? YOU'VE BEEN GONE DAMN NEAR TWO YEARS!
Jeffries: The stories that I wanna tell you about...

I can never understand what the fuck is going on when I watch Twin Peaks. Interesting though, which is a huge contrast to most of TV these days.

Lynch brews up some television with Twin Peaks by adding a wonderful mix of ingredients. The addictive quality of the episodes goes beyond that of the traditional cliffhanger formula & into psychological territory. Sorta like the cigarette companies putting additives in their product to make an already addictive product even more addictive.

You know, it's weird, I've seen most stuff David Lynch has done, including his shorts on his website (which are GREAT by the way), but I have never seen Twin Peaks. I think it was because when I was growing up, I never watched it, thinking it was just some cop show in the same group as In The Heat Of The Night, or any other show of the like that you can now only view at your elderly neighbor's house or on the tv in the tire shop's waiting room. Of course, now I know I was wrong, but only too late, because it's not on air anymore. My question: if I really love all of Lynch's other stuff, would it be worth my money to go buy it on a whim without ever having seen it before?

LifeDistortion 07.02.2006 01:50 PM

I heard the first season is brilliant but the second season made no sense because they totally abandoned the storylines they set up in the first season.

IntoTheGroovey 07.02.2006 02:17 PM

It's hands down the greatest TV show of all time (along with Seinfeld of course). The first season is brilliant and hooks you immediately but the first half of the second season is just as good. By about episode 14 or so it kind of loses it's way but is still entertaining, and gets really good again around the end.

afterthefact 07.02.2006 04:23 PM

What would have been cool is if Mulholland Drive was a series like originally planned...

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 04:34 PM

I love the second half of season two simply for windham earle..

umjammer atomsk 07.02.2006 04:38 PM

I've only seen Fire Walk With Me so far. But I guess it kinda ruined the mystery for me, didn't it? I really want to see the series but I'm going to have to order it off of amazon or something.

atsonicpark 07.02.2006 04:51 PM

Hahah, well, it may have ruined one of the mysteries, but that mystery itself is pretty obvious near the end of season one, so eh...

johnnywinternoshow 07.02.2006 06:19 PM

I didn't watch it when it was on tv originally but picked up the dvd of series 1 last year and loved it. Especially the cliffhanger at the end, I almost bought a video of series 2 for £30 on ebay to see what happens next. I love how, to me anyway, the soundtrack and some of the acting makes it seem a lot like some of those stereotypical american soaps and i like it for it's cheesiness but then it;s written so well it just hooks you

Anyone interested in seeing the original pilot for mulholland drive? you can here

(it's not the movie version)

LifeDistortion 07.02.2006 06:50 PM

I don't think any David Lynch series would work on any of the major networks on television. Why he hasn't done a project on HBO or Showtime though is odd. He'd be perfect for something on one of those networks, and HBO really needs a great series again, because they've been getting rid of all of thier good ones in the past few years.
