Gotta disagree. The guy would never rationally discuss anything with anybody ever. Fuck him over in any way. I wish someone would have tossed a bag of shit on him

Road to Perdition > American Beauty in my oh-so humble opinion.

American Beauty hasn't aged well. Road to Perdition was underrated from the start. Great film all around. Jude Law showed me he could act, like, for real. And he was terrifying. Nobody ever remembers Road to Perdition.

In what way? I watched it again recently and, yeah, it's obviously of its time, but not in any kind of limiting way, I'd say.

eh. you might be missing on some cultural references but not a great experience as far as i'm concerned.

i found the main fucker mostly annoying. also annoying: people still saying "that's what she said" (please god take them now)

except for dwigth schrutte (sp?). that was a funny character.

Road to Perdition was the next movie Sam Mendes made after the huge success of American Beauty. It was really hyped up, because the guy had just won all these Oscars, and people were excited about what he would do next. It got really good reviews but did not perform well at the box office, and was snubbed at award time.

It's a period piece about an Irish mob enforcer in the late-'20s/early-'30s whose son witnesses a hit and compromises the family's security. The guy has to make a decision... fight the family, give up his son, or bring his son into the bloody family business.

His choice ... well, it's not easy.

Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Jude Law, Daniel Craig. A goddamn excellent and beautiful movie that was much more evolved and well thought-out and challenging than its predecessor. It's actually based on an obscure black and white graphic novel, but I didn't know that until after I saw it, and that's not why I like it.

American Beauty had its moments, but its depiction of teenagers was hilariously out of touch. No teenager has ever talked the way ANY of the teenagers in that movie spoke to one another. Except the teenagers who were literally acting IN that movie. I guess they talked that way, while on the clock.

It was too much. It doesn't hold up for me at all. Kevin Spacey is good, and his plot is interesting, but it takes some really pretentious side-roads and detours to Point-ville.

Road to Perdition is a masterclass. Everything is better. Down to the color palette and score.

I liked the Andy character. He made me laugh the most. Went from pathetic bully to sensitive anger management issue guy to nicest dude in the world to boss to crazytown, and then I stopped watching. That dude from the Hangover. Ed something? Yeah, I liked him.

!@#$%! 09.17.2017 02:36 PM

oh i'll reply to your message in the movie thread then

just here to ask again if there are soups and butts in road to perdition because that was never clarified

so, I keep getting pop ups from Norton about the Equifax data breach, trying to sell "Lifeline" data protection. Ends up, it's owned by Norton and uses Equifax data

http://www.latimes.com/business/hilt...918-story.html

great quote from the article

''.... the consumers whose information is on file at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion aren’t those firms’ customers—they’re the product."

trump angle? Rethugs are trying to deregulate the credit industry!

http://www.latimes.com/business/laza...919-story.html

great quote from the article

"As a dog owner, I know that you encourage good behavior with treats.

Nobody should get a Milk Bone for peeing on the floor."
