This is completely true. The day I finished Watchmen I read it for about 6 hours, which is probably the longest I can read per day without going insane. My norm is 2-3 hours a day.

Great thread this is. I'm thinking about going out today and picking some more graphic novels up.

"the fart party" collection graphic novel is really good. it's really short but so funny. a comic of hers is my signature.

I have to get my g/f to read Watchmen before the movie comes out.

Toilet & Bowels 01.13.2009 05:42 AM

It's basically like high school meets a Cronenberg movie. It seems like it's gonna be so darkly funny or something but it's actually pretty tender.

Alan Moore's greatest work, imo, is From Hell. Great stuff all around.

i didnt like watchmen much. i read it, it was alright, but i wasn't as entertained by it as people seem to be here. i don't get its cult status. the written pages were actually the most annoying-- those fictional references a la borges, but in bad prose-- meh. the story was alright, the characters annoying, the art ok though traditional.

mr. toilet pointed out love and rockets as his favorite, and while i haven't read the whole of this series i've enjoyed it lots more than watchmen-- the illustration is way cooler, the characters are awesome, there's good use of humor, and there's no grandiose plot to save the world brought to us by superhumans.
