would you burn money?

How much is your time worth?

On minimum wage (say $10) it'd have to take you under 6 minutes each to make it cost-effective.

people who want CD's use AOL

i can spend a morning at a local flea market and sell the shit out of old things while i eat cheese and drink beer. i've made over $100/hr in the past. the only problem is the demographics are wrong for my music.

btw i went to that website, entered the code for 4 random cds, and the total offer was $0. one had no code, another had an incomprehensible code (prolly old), the other two were unwanted.

ha ha, to think i bought so many of these with credit cards, probably paid interest, now they are worth nothing. investment!

evollove 02.08.2013 09:42 AM

Are they making CDrs better quality nowadays? Or will they flake off like the old ones?

And do DVDrs have this flaking off problem?

I once dropped an external hard drive and lost everything.
Clouds are too small or too expensive.
Technology sucks.

At the risk of rampant hipsterism, why does playing vinyl lp's offer such a more rewarding experience? The tactile sensation of flipping it over? The participation of blowing off the dust? Bonding experiences.

Rob Instigator 02.08.2013 10:07 AM

tactile sensations
The absorption of modulated sound, full wave structure
the analog delight of no lasers

anything that forces the listener to sit and listen, instead of a readily available fast forward or skip button, is cool with me.

so many great songs are tossed off as "filler" by people with no patience and a desire to only hear the hits.

I like the way that LP's sort the music into two "suites", and if a band is thoughtful about it, and many were and are, they create two distinct sides of music, to be enjoyed.

I also like the extra images and stuff on the sleeves.

Rob Instigator 02.08.2013 10:09 AM

I have held, and gone to, many "record nights" where friends and I bring a few LP's and we all rock out and get wasted and check out our latest faves and latest buys, and make each other jealous with our choice vinyl platters and rare shit.

I have never heard of anyone having a "CD night" or a "let's share the contents of our iPod" night.

sonic nerd....

This Spotify ad blocker I'm running feels pretty rewarding.

Great isn't it? Now they just have to make it available here and I'll gladly pay for it.

what? isn't -- aren't you in a eurozone country? or did you move to angola?

ps - just saw the spotify website. what useless fuckers! sorry man.

Trama 02.08.2013 11:44 AM

Nah, I don't blame them.

Like you pointed out we have a single monetary market but it's useless in this case because each country has its own set of bureaucracy and licensing requirements. I know first hand the fucking pain in the ass it is for european startups.

They took the right decision by focusing on bigger markets. Besides, I hear the service will be returning sometime this month, so...

shit man, off topic at this point but i thought european companies could freely operate within the common market. whata fucking drag!

'MERICA!

just sayin'. ha ha ha.

but no, seriously, what the fuck. half-ass "union".

greedrex 02.08.2013 12:29 PM

Not getting rid of my Cds at all, got rid of all the burned cdrs, but i have a pretty comprehensive indie and more collection that i would never sell. I still buy a CD or two of music that i really like but never owned when i find it real cheap. But after some time slacking because couldn't afford it, i'm back on the vinyl quest! Making it grow slowly but quality only...
Last additions include Big'N, Bastro and Caesura LPs!

That's true, but if you put some perspective on it and look back 50 years you'll see that it's actually quite an accomplishment.

Anyway, CDs...

Donate them to a local library.
