LES SAVY FAV "GO FORTH"
2001, Frenchkiss

Never been into the whole "disco punk 2000" scene (or whatever stupid scene this band occassionally gets lumped into; shit populated by the Rapture, Moving Units, and all that garbage) but this band is actually really good. Overlook the occassionally annoying vocals and lyrics (the singer is by far the worst part of this band) and you actually have an amazing record right here. Kinda like an artier Gang of Four with one of the best guitarists I've ever heard... really well-written songs with... okay, fuck it. Let me just talk about the GUITAR. This guy is crazy. I don't even know how he does it (besides using a lot of delay). Some songs sound like he's just soloing over top the entire song.. but it doesn't sound like a "guitar solo"... he's just written about 50 riffs per song on here... but never lets any of them stick around very long. Really wild.. the stuff he's written for guitar is actually really great... I dunno. Anyway, I am not a huge fan of everything this band does, though they are pretty consistently good songwriters -- but this album in particular stands out to me as some kind of classic.

you used to hate this band, but yeah the guitars are cool and "Inches" is pretty awesome, I never listen to them anymore though.

I never hated this band. Just the singer.
