It's striking to note that a band who sweated genius in their heyday could reduce themselves to utter doggerel now. I saw them in Dec 06 w/Krist, and they were utterly boring. Still, respect to them for their classic period.

y'know something? MY BRAIN HURTS by Screeching Weasel is maybe the best pop-punk album ever. Ever!

Dead-Air 07.16.2009 08:55 PM

"Spank Thru" by Nirvana too which Lennon started rocking out even more than to the Sabbath.

SCREECHING WEASEL!!! I haven't heard that one yet. I've just heard Bark Like A Dog, Television City Dream and Weasel Mania. Can't fault any of it though.

I always loved her voice, but the album can be a bit dull. I haven't played it in ages.

automatic bzooty 07.17.2009 01:47 AM

^ i dunno... she starts out fine, but i think her delivery sort of wears on me because it never gets changed up.

Ben Weasel - The Brain That Wouldn't Die

(again, cuz it's really good). The thing about Screeching Weasel is that they make me wish that I was 16 again. And it was the mid-90's and hearing them for the first time. Cuz then I'd start an awesome band.

now: cousins of reggae-methridge

earlier:
lee perry-super ape
cheer accident-fear draws misfortune (its really good)
rfto bandwagon-drums will survive
sonic youth-goo
the stones-let it bleed (such a summer album, driving around with the windows open listening to gimme shelter smoking pot on the way to a party)
pigeon religion-the art for spastics podcast, finally some new az music ythat doesnt suck
kount fistula-magik sex world
electric bunnies/pink reason split
black flag-my war
antony milton-nymi comp (so awesome, ive never been able to get into this new zealund noise/drone dude because he has so many records in so many styles, but this is rad, one comp that spans the best of all his projects and bands from harsh noise to mind melting drone to absolute rocking psych bands)
axolotl and inca ore collab
blues control-local flavor
rusted shut-rusted shut (got the vinyl finally at armageddon in provi, i dont think there is a band out there that better exemplifies what im into as far as extreme music is concerned, kinda like the stones (everything up untill sticky fingers of course) for rock n roll)
