so jealous :( they play the uk very rarely & it always sells out so you have to be on it. i'm still lucky enough to have seen them a few times - one of my favourite bands to see live. i couldn't get over it for months after the first time i saw them (at atp in 2002) so so so so good!

one time they played & it was the same night as an afrirampo concert i already had tickets to (NICE TIMING PROMOTERS) but i'm glad i went to afrirampo since i don't think they played the uk again after that. and also it was AWESOME. but i was still annoyed i missed LB.

Afrirampo vs LB....tough choice...but you made the right one I'd say.

diskaholic-anonymous 02.20.2015 06:01 PM

not ok...they always put me k.o ! hahaha ! love this band...

Suddenly had a flashback of buying Hypermagic Mountain on vinyl and listening to it at 45rpm by mistake and thinking jesus christ this record is pretty insane even by Lightning Bolt standards.

SO who got this record?

I did and I think it is pretty great all round. Reminds me in a lot of ways of Wonderful Rainbow but with much better (to my ears) production - I always think they are a band which are very hard to pin down on record (like to me Earthly Delights was way too clean sounding?? I actually prefer the crappy production on their earlier albums as it seems to suit them better? I dunno maybe I am overthinking it).

Anyway this sounds rough and ready but in a really nice crisp way. Good job to whoever produced this (dunno who right now since I'm at work and google isn't helping me)

Also has some 'weird' bits which are not classical LB and I really like that about it.

Needs a few more serious listens but so far I'm really impressed.

i've been listening to it on spotify for a while and it's fantastic.

i posted a sort of impromptu review of it in the "what are you listening" thread.

Was that when Afri Rampo played at either Cargo or Bardens?

Ya it was Cargo I think. Such a good show. I think LB played Tufnell Park Dome that same night which is not a venue I like that much.

Sorry bastards are ONLY playing Austin and then driving thru Houston on their way to New Orleans: stupid Sam Windish
