Any of you guys heard of this band? Apparently similar to Lightning Bolt et al... but w/ viola... they are playing near me soon, worth checking out?

I saw them once. Very very cool.
Not as manic as LB by a long shot though.
Loud.
I enjoyed it a lot.

the viola dude is gone, they replaced him with a guitar player...haven't heard the new album but people have been saying it's very mediocre.

on the other hand, the iron point is one of the best records load has ever put out.

why is it that every band in load gets compared to the bolt?

I witnessed Oxbow singing their praises live.They were totally awesome.Aweome.I'm from Jersey y'know?

Viola replaced with guitar?

yep, dude from ultralyd replaced nils the viola player. i'm surprised you didn't hear about it.

seen em 4 or 5 times, tha last time i saw em they had the gtrst.
i wouldnt bother with them now. nothing special.
they are heavy slow and doomy. amazing the first couple of times but then not as good after.
the loss of the viola is a big loss indeed.
theyre nothing like lightning bolt though. they have a drummer and bass player, are on load records and thats about it.

noxagt are ok. the new album is ok. iron point is better. the load comparison is common for all bands to get compared to lb. totally unjustified. most bands on load are nothing like lb. its probably my favourite label at the mo. new coughs album is great. new usaisamonster is pretty good. and they are also real nice folk..
