Goddamn it was stupid to invade one country while we weren't even done in another. Of course, there are many, many other reasons why this shit is stupid.

While I'm generally opposed to war, I have to say, as many have said, that Afghanistan, not Iraq, would have been the logical focus of our war efforts over the past several years.

Its been two months. He says he still wants to drop the number of troops in 16 months, not add troops. It would be stupid if he just pulled out troops the same day he went into office. Geez. Get mad at the one who sent them there. Obama has to manage another president's shit that's overflowed.

people will always do horrible things to each other. bitching about peace wont do anything. learn how to defend yourself against any thinkable threat, also know the best way to protect your loved ones, and just be prepared for when the war hits home.

if you have a problem with me, then its pretty obvious that you are desperately up to no good, and desperation tends to bring out determination. A desperate and/or determined threat is one that needs to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. I would rather take a chance of getting shot by a guy robbing my house, trying to disarm and/or kill him, rather than risk the chance that if i do what he says and let him clean me out, that he will keep his word and not hurt me or anyone in my family.


So let the terrorists bomb buildings that are important to a bunch of corporate scumbags. Let the working stiffs become casualties of a holy war. I dont have any problems with muslims. I dont have problems with christians, hindus, satanists, pagans, whatever. Its all irrelevant to me. You threaten my life or way of living, then i have a problem. No need for war. What happens if nothing's changed in 16 months? Or what happens if things actually get worse in Iraq? This is possible. Will Obama still withdraw troops? If so, it would be just as stupid as withdrawing troops now. Obama's time table is just a crowd pleaser. It's no different than Bush's plan, except Bush wasn't going to lie and say things will be resolved in x amount of days.

there is a little bit of reality which must be addressed here.

Iraqis will never respect US military occupation. How would you feel if everyday to go to work or school you had your ID checked and were searched at gun point by several different groups of Iraqi troops on patrol in your neighborhood? If everyday you passed down the street under the crosshairs of Iraqi troops pointing their rifles at EVERYBODY... well this is the reality of Iraqis, who face US troops on their streets every single day, and it pisses them the fuck off.

this shit fuels the insurgency. The reality is that the chaos in Iraq can only be stopped by Iraqis. People can barely respect THEIR OWN police and military, how could we expect them to respect foreigners?

It has to be a domestic solution, occupation only drives the insurgency and gives more fuel to the fire in the hearts of pissed off youth with no jobs..

While it will take time for them to acknowledge Iraqi military and police legitimacy, THEY WILL NEVER acknowledge that of the US, and so it is a lost cause to stay there and try to police the ground with US troops, as this only creates more violence in a downward spiral..

cuz that means that for 16-18 more months Iraqi youth and insurgents will have time to get even MORE PISSED off, and have even MORE CHAOS.

My point, the troops should be out much sooner than much later, and we can NEVER police the ground, we learned that in Vietnam. US troops just need to leave plain and simple, because Iraqis are sick of seeing em and the troops are sick of being there. It is easy for us here in internet land far away from bagdhad to say its cool to leave the troops for over a year longer, but I think the folks on the ground there feel much differently. How would you feel if the Iraqis were occupying your neighborhood for the past six fucking years and said we'll leave in a year, we swear (with their fingers crossed?)
