just saying. I have 1-6, 8, 9 on CD. Heck, I have everything SY on CD that I've been able to get my hands on all these years. I bought SYR7 on vinyl to have it but really wish I could buy a CD. That is all.

SonikJesus 07.20.2017 10:59 PM

...only 8 was CD only, as it's one hour-long jam. What a bunch of asshats. They'll probably put 10 out on wax cylinder or shellac 78.

Or they will never put 10 one out

noisereductions 07.21.2017 08:28 AM

I think I'd be content w/ a promo cd in a plain white sleeve just to have the full SYR run on CD. I don't believe such a thing exists.

My other great white whale in SY collecting is the Kali Yug + More promo CD. A friend of mine worked at a college radio station a decade ago and they had it there. I almost wish I was the sort of person who had asked him to steal it haha.

I similarly lament missing vinyl editions of SYR 6 & 8, Silver Sessions, Drunken Butterfly & Self-Obsessed and Sexee.

I got an idea... burn SYR7 onto a cd-r. problem solved.

6 on double vinyl, one part per side for three sides and an etching on the D would do me nicely

EVOLghost 08.07.2017 10:49 AM

Good luck with that Kali Yug express release.

For the record, it always bothered me too that all the SYR releases weren't available in each format - especially LP format - I was in favor of LP releases of all the series - they look so great - but for one reason or another we couldn't do it, due to the length of the music or the expense of dble LPs or whatever, but, yes, it's too bad...

noisereductions 08.08.2017 11:53 AM

thanks for responding, Lee!

I guess I understand the length issues of the vinyl releases, but that's sort of why it was always weird to me that just one of them wasn't on CD while it would have had no problem fitting on CD for length or whatever.

They will probably not put 10 out, since they kinda no longer exist.

Yeah but the whole point of art if to broaden your horizons and get you out of conformity.

which format I choose to listen to my music on - especially based on convenience of where I listen to my music is hardly a matter of conformity. I mean shit, the fact that I still buy CD's should tell you that.

The fact remains I don't have a turntable in my car, but that's where I do most of my listening. And I choose to collect CD's as that's the format that I first start collecting in the 90's. I don't feel like I need art to somehow change that for me.

Preach.

Using CDs is not “conformist.” In fact, I’m way beyond sick of the whole vinyl thing. It’s not even fun to collect anymore because people are such douches about it, and everything being re-released on orange/green/piss-colored 180 gram is just a cash grab. Fuck that shit.

At Kim's appearance in CO a few weeks ago I asked her if the SYR series would ever be completed with some unreleased material they might have in the vaults.. She said Steve has quite a bit of SY recordings that have never been released and releasing them as SYR's in the future is a real possibility. I was delighted to say the least!

noisereductions 11.07.2017 04:41 PM

That would be great.

Massenvernichtungswaffen 11.16.2017 06:22 AM

I too would love to see SYR 10 happen.
My favourites of the set are 9 and 1 respectively.
