I really dig Boris.
I just bought "pink", actually. Fantastic.

Mikami and Inaba have super fab voices - big, gruff and gritty like the best delta blues, but the music is maybe... toned down a bit compared to Tomokawa's.
Doji Morita (1970s female singer/songwhittler) is also fantastic. Some of her albums are floating around on mp3 blogs. Try this

Thank you really much! Good info to investigate with

Kan Mikami sounded familiar to me, and now I understood why, he has collaborated with Keiji Haino :)

sparta locals broke up and some of the members formed HINTO. RIP! Master of cat scratch guitar playing and great hook filled arpeggio filled songs.

Listening to LEECHER now for the first time, only one I hadn't heard, and it just kills.

Also, kayo left polysics!

Anyone likes YOLZ IN THE SKY? Amazing band. Dark intense stuff, extremely technical and noisey but catchy, kinda reminds me of something that'd be on Skin Graft here but a lot better imo.

Nice to see Xinlisupreme get a mention... There is another album that preceeded the Murder License EP, called Tomorrow Never Comes. Pretty awesome stuff. Surprisingly this band remains relatively unknown in Japan; at least I have yet to meet someone there who's heard of them....

I have a soft spot (or is it a hard spot?) for:

Merzbow
CCCC
Incapacitants
Boredoms
Boris
Keiji Heino (and his various collabs)
Acid Mothers Temple
Corrupted

I listen to this shit in the car too, hahaha.....I get funny looks at intersections on hot days.

Also, I do baths, for 60+mins at a time, in the dark, maybe 1 candle sometimes, big glass of wine, portable CD player in the room (but not too close to the water!)....such a great way to REALLY EXPERIENCE THIS SHIT!!! (You must all try this.)

Number Girl
Yellow Magic Orchestra / Ryuichi Sakamoto / The Beatniks
Nobukazu Takemura (Child's View = eargasms)

Mono
World's End Girlfriend (The man works wonders with samples)
Otomo Yoshihide
Haino Keiji
Ken Ishii
Guitar Wolf (Louder than The Stooges?)

I need some help deciding what Acid Mothers Temple album I should buy first?

I always tell people to seek out (aka illegally download) "Electric Heavyland" when first introduced to Acid Mother's. It rocks more than most of their records, with lots of High Rise/Mainliner laser riffing, but also showcases the intricacies and wierdness of their sound. "Loved and Confused" is one of my favorite tracks.

nvm.
