Not a serious fan, but looks as if I'll be seeing them in February due to the girlfriend's insistence on doing so. I've heard some of their stuff, musically they're OK. Lyrics seem a little preachy for my taste, but yeah. Any suggestions on what I should be listening to or what I'm getting myself into? I've heard some rumors about their live shows...er.

I do like some of the Godspeed stuff I've heard, even though I'm not a serious fan of them either.

13 blues for 13 moons and kollaps traditionales are the 2 recentist (?) ones and are stunning

saw them a few years ago and they were amazing, have a good one

One of my favorite bands ever, actually, though 13 Blues sucked.

If you are going to see them, familiarize yourself with their last few albums, and to hear their best music check out their EP's Born into Trouble as Sparks Fly Upward and This is our punk rock...

I've been a fan since they first started playing in 99. Really fucking incredible band. Those EP's I listed are actually better than most of GYBE's material, though I don't think ASMZ has ever gotten close to topping Skinny Fists.
