The official SY Gossip Ten Greatest Albums of All-Time
 

I originally posted this in the Non-Sonics section, but just so you all have a chance to take part I'll mention it here too:

OK, seeing as how we all have amazing taste compared to everyone else, here's how it can work.

1. PM me your top five 'greatest' albums, in order (any album, not just those by SY).

2. I'll give them points accordingly: 8 points for no.1; 6 for no.2; 3 for no.3; 2 for no.4; and 1 for number 5.

3. I'll add them all up and then post the final top ten here, say next Tuesday.

I'm off work right now so it's no big deal for me to do this, and it could be interesting.

The only rule is that it has to be albums (no singles).

Oh, and no resubmitting or amending. Once it's in, it's in.

I'll try to think about this. I never really have, so it's difficult.

It's an impossible task, obviously. Despite starting the whole idea I only put my final five in about an hour ago - and already I wish I could change it.

Only the Darwinian and Marxist ways can help me to do this. And really. they can't.

I can maybe understand how a Darwinian method might apply, but a Marxist one? Are we talking Lukacs here? Brecht? Adorno? I'm genuinely intrigued!

Well, Marxism has a lot of elements to it that are a sure precursor of Darwinism.

Damn you. I'm stoned and now you've got me thinking about stuff I hadn't bargained on thinking about.

It's ok, these things aren't really worth talking about on here, anyway.
