I'll be going to the Incubate festival, all week long from monday 15 until Sunday 21 September. I'm completely not sure yet which bands I'll go see. All I know now is that there are some major major major clashes in the schedule.
Like on Monday, if I go see Pauline Oliveros, I'll miss both Action Beat & G.W. Sok (ex-The Ex) and Nadja. And I want to see all three dammit! other acts playing: Silver Mt Zion, Bardo Pond, Wooden Wand, Woven Hand. Click the site for more :-) (I am open for suggestions and/or tape request but can't promise anything) Next to that there's dozens of shows I would like to see in the coming months, but not sure yet. I'll definitely go to Mogwai in October, and probably Sebadoh once or twice as well. And I got this passe-partout for the Autumn Falls festival, which gives me free entry to a bunch of shows all over Belgium in October and November. But until now not many are known yet... But all I'm waiting for right now is for MONO to announce their European tour, looks like that will be at the start of December. I'll take a week holiday for that :D |
Thrones tomorrow!

bangbangbangbangbang! He has always been one of those guys that can make me laugh without even trying! |

I was there too. I don't listen to a lot of reggae, but when I do, it is generally Scratch in dub mode. Pretty awesome. |
I missed Scratch Perry on the Santa Monica Pier last night because I was stuck in fucking class, and I had been waiting for that show ALL summer, the Summer Twilight Concert series always have their grand finale with a brilliant roots reggae show.. last year it was Jimmy Cliff and U-Roy, in the years past it was Toots and Maytals, Ziggy Marley, Ras Michael.. its just so damned irie to be out on the Pier at night dancing to roots reggae, a beautiful and prototypical LA moment..
Alas, I couldn't be there. So to make up for it I am going to skank my ass off at Groundation this saturday night at the Observatory.. Hirsute, you going to Thurston @ the Observatory Oct 11?? http://www.observatoryoc.com/events/thurston-sebadoh |

I don't think so, I've not been very into the recent Thurston stuff, and I have a lot of personal and family stuff going on right now which precludes my ability to attend most shows. You missed out on the Scratch show, it was pretty awesome from my perspective as a casual and occasional dub listener, and the price was right. Good for you going to class though, I've missed a lot of shows due to school, but none of those shows are going to help me get a job to pay my bills in the future... |
dammit, I only just now find out that I do have time tomorrow to go to this festival. But looks like it's sold out already :(
20 YEARS OF MAGASIN4 :: Post punk / Noise Rock / Rock THE EX (NL) (with Ken Vandermark) + L'ENFANCE ROUGE (FR/IT) + GÂTECHIEN (FR) + VITAS GUERULAITIS (BE/FR) + SPAGGGUETTA ORGHASMMOND (ATG) |
^^
Hurray! it's not sold out yet, so I'm off to Brussels tonight!!! |
If I could go to only one gig this year it would be this. Which is why I'm going:
Peter Brötzmann / Steve Noble / Keith Tippett - Café Oto Thursday 25th September http://www.cafeoto.co.uk/Peter-Brotz...eve-Noble.shtm |

I saw Brotzmann earlier this year in Tokyo playing with Sabu Toyozumi and Toshinori Kondo, it was one of the best things I've seen in my life. All three were mind blowing but particularly Sabu Toyozumi who must be about 80 and I would say is probably the best drummer I've ever seen. |
tonight:
Yob + Pallbearer first show for Yob's new album. Should be fun, I hope they'll play a cover of this :) |
considering to take the week off from work and see them in Hamburg, Groningen, Brugge, Haarlem, then once more in Cologne two weeks later but not sure yet ;-) |
^^^^
Holy cow! They're releasing two albums at the same time. See https://www.facebook.com/monoofjapan |
are there any Kraftwerk freaks out here? They will be playing eight times in a row at the Paradiso in Amsterdam in January, doing a different album each night

Seriously? That sounds like one of the best ways one could possibly spend a week. Few bands could announce something like that and have it actually sound like a good idea. For Kraftwerk, I'd bloody well go though. Every night. |
