I thought it was perfectly fine but ive never been that deep into Emeralds myself either. Its definitely more commercial sounding but i cant imagine theyll suddenly become the next Mogwai just because theyve added a drum machine.

Honestly, you are the first person I have encountered to say a positive word about these inept charlatan naked-emperors. This kind of music has ruined a once-beloved term like "psych" for me by being used as a descriptor for this kind of bottom-feeding excess-of-an-era type of music. Total hacks.


(I do not mean these comments to be of a personal nature, by the way. I am sure we share a lot of similar tastes.I just really feel that Prince Rama are doing a genuine disservice to music, and "psychedelic" music in particular)

Haha I wouldn't say i'm there biggest fan but I enjoy their twisted take on pop. I think psychedelia has just become more fragmented in recent years but not in a bad way.

And yeah Goat are great, they probably do the whole tribal psych thing better than prince rama.

I haven't like a TOD album in (yeah, I know) a decade, but this one is down right listenable! Satisfying. Sometimes awesome. I will be giving the album more consideration with repeated spins.

my problem with it isn't so much with the drum machine (although I hate the really tinny sound) but rather that it consolidates my fears about them, those being that they tend to be more too pastiche-y for my liking as opposed to just being plain Tangerine Dream copyists, which in itself isn't too good. Just To Feel Anything really feels like a bit of a sick joke if I'm being completely honest. I much preferred the recent Outer Space albums, those were really good, nothing overtly original about them but they were atmospheric to the extent that you could drift off but with enough abrasion to maintain interest and not allow for it to be passed off as background music.

you like it? I checked samples on each track and I feel like half of it sounds awesome and half of it sounds like something I'd forget about. Is it a grower?

love it. listening to samples wouldn't help you "get" some of the tracks, you gotta hear the full thing.

yeah I know... I've just had less tiem for listening to music lately, so I've been more picky about which albums I've been getting so often I'll just check some clips if I'm trying to decide between 2 or 3 to see which one I'll want more.
